Stoooopid computer decided to do a bunch of updates just when I was coming here to say goodnight.
If your computer has an Intel processor, you'll probably want to go ahead and install this update. There's a

The short version is that there's no known/active exploits for this issue, but everyone knows about it now and it's just a matter of time, regardless of how hard it is to implement. It impacts all Intel processors in the last decade. The good news is that there's fixes. The bad news is that these fixes MIGHT slow down your computer a bit, but if you're just surfing you probably won't notice.
The MS update is being rushed out a bit...and it reports that it failed when it didn't. Just run "Check for updates" again and if it says you're OK, then you're OK.
No panic. Note that if you're on a Mac that has an Intel processor, you need updates too. Linux too. Etc. This is the kind of thing that probably ruined many OS developer's Holiday Season with tons of OT across all OS's. AMD stock went up....
