My general take on it Stone, is that I support a rah-rah for the troops...can be a parade or whatever...but a gawdy show of military hardware is too....2nd world or 3rd world country-ish for the USA. France is slightly smaller than Texas, it's easier to move stuff around and "show off", and it's part of their traditions...how THEY do it is how THEY do it. But for the USA, we've always been more of a "speak softly but have a lot of big sticks around" kind of place. And many of the retired generals aren't real fond of a "show of force" parade. I mean, we spend more than the next 9 countries combined. Everyone already knows we "have force" and I don't see a reason for Trump to want to parade around like some cheap-dictator. Except, of course, him being Trump. In a word: Tacky.
Big waste of money moving all that hardware with little to no result. Hold a celebration for the troops, sure, marching parades and bands 'n stuff. Fine.
In the end, they'll compromise and work out the details, and Trump can play his Nationalist card. Nothing wrong with basic patriotism, if not abused or taken to extremes.
