Not sure I told y'all this, but my buddy built me a new laptop out of spare parts that were lying around; one of those parts was a solid state hard drive...I don't ask. But it has what I think is Windows 10 on it; there's this annoying Search field next to what I think is the Start "button".
Trying to decide on pulling the trigger between either Avast! or Panda as an A/V solution.
Geez...MACs are so much simpler.

Well, I would, except Marsha is handling it. I know one thing was she was unable to download Microsoft Store, which is where she plays a lot of games.So, they had to take over and found some bad stuff on a brand new computer, and fixed it! I think. Also, we have Bask, which keeps our stuff in the clouds backed up and they are now installing and restoring on new puter, which takes hours.
This does have a SSD, which is supposed to be super fast, but I don't know a lot about it.

SSD's are faster for reading, sometimes faster for writing, depending. But the SSD is a GOOD MOVE. It has no moving parts, and Windows-that-you-hate will recognize that it is an SSD and deal with it properly. So that's good.
The other stuff sounds like software issues (like usual). Doesn't sound like a hardware problem per se, so that's good. Sometimes new hardware can have a problem, so glad that's not it (from what I can tell).
Who is "they"? Take over? Microsoft? You sure it's them? IDK...hope M has it all solved. I'm sure she's doing fine. Beware scammers pretending to be Microsoft and "finding bad things" though.
