i don't qualify for any hours - dh has medicare now plus a supplement but they do not cover any in-home help

nope but skilled nursing is covered after a qualifying hospital stay

Have you checked with your state's Dept. of Aging? They deal separately from insurance for in home help. It's easy to check out.
