Yesterday's stew-a-thon turned out well, I guess. It was a good
chore for a bitterly-cold day. My only "beef" :) is that the chunks
of meat pretty much disintegrated into shreds. For 8, almost 9,
pounds, I expected much more substantial pieces. Other than,
that... delicious. One meal... one large container ready for Dad
tomorrow... and there's still 2 full meals left. Using the garage
as a refrigerator. That's ONE thing I do like about Winter.

I decided to upgrade the PC monitor to 32". The new one does
not have a VGA input... just HDMI and some other kind of
connection. So I also ordered an HDMI cable.

The monitor will arrive tomorrow. (By USPS!!!... good luck stuffing
that in the mailbox. But yet, books or DVDs come by UPS!!! Figure
that one out!)

The cable is still "being processed".

What the hell?!?!

A full-size monitor can be delivered in 2 days. A relatively tiny 12"
cable is still "being processed". Well, at least the monitor will have
the chance to get to room temperature before being plugged in.

Thanks for the participation Bear.

You can get HDMI cables locally, it's just that you pay ?3x? the price...for the convenience, of course.

P.S.
The other port is probably a "display port" or DVI-x.

Furthermore, why not just INCLUDE a cable WITH the monitor?...
you know, IN the box.

I was amazed to see some electronics, during shopping around,
that did not even INCLUDE a power cord!!! Now, come on with
that.
Right.
Gotta assume its reduced costs/labor/packaging. More profits for cable industry and the monitor industry. And there MAY have been one included with your graphics card/computer (check boxes, but probably not there either for the same reasons). The cables are "generic" in a sense.

I mean, they include a power cord to connect it to electricity, right? But the power requirements are specific to the device. Wouldn't want a sub-standard generic power cord plugged into your monitor.

But HDMI cables are more "generic" and ubiquitous. After a while, you'll have a collection of them.

I file it under "they're being cheap".

Well, darn it all!

"Tree people" came down the road hacking away at trees that
(assumedly) posed some kind of hazard. I'm not sure at whose
behest they toiled (town? utilities? cable? phone? (lol) ). They
set up shop right near my mutant maple... cones, workers
milling about looking skyward, the big-bass chipping machinery.

I went out and (half) jokingly asked "how much to deem the
entire tree a hazard? I'll call back in Spring for stump removal".
I got a couple blue collar laughs. And that's all. Up went the cones,
beep-beep-beep went the chipper (backwards) and they made a
giant laughing-stock of next door's pine. Someone is NOT going
to be very happy.

Then they did a procession down the road.

Not even a TWIG removed here. :(

And, the noise scared Oreo and Sheba out of their hut to under
the deck.
