but i believe atty does have a generator ....
Yep. And it worked too.

Good morning Dale :)

Wonder if Atty got power back, yet?
Not at that point Just came on about 5:00 p.m. today, with internet at the same time.

morning, dale!

still 77k out in atty's neck of the woods :(
Yeah, it was a "perfect storm" here in W. MI. So ice, followed by winds and more ice and rain. Trees snapped branches all over the place. It was a death-by-1000-cuts type of thing. They brought in crews from ?6? states.

P.S. I read all the griping. :glare:
Y'all are lightweights!
Try single digit temps, lake effect snow, and high winds, drifting, no power, no internet.
Have generator will survive. If you can get out to get gas.

They even evacuated a retirement home in the city due to no power. Had emergency plans activated, warming shelters, instructions on how to drain house water pipes and poor RV antifreeze (if you have it...I'm going to stock up in case the generator ever conks out) in the traps.

Was NOT fun. Went off about 11:00 ish Thursday here (Wed started the ice storm) and didn't come back on until 5:00 pm today. The crews were doing 16 hour shifts. Was nuts. Poor guys/gals. But we have power here at least.

Got a bunch of branches down in the front. I can worry about that next. Lost the top of a tree by the road. :(

Hi snails!!!!

You need an electrician to set up the connection. Then the generator. And if not pull-start, a battery that's charged or car jumper cables. And a place to store it, and keep it dry (generators and water don't mix well).

As for pipes, They drain them out and get "most of the water out of them"...like with a hose on the hot water heater or whatever is the lowest point. OR you can just run a trickle of water assuming you're not on a well. So if you have "city" water and sewer, just run a q-tip sized stream of water in each tap.

As to traps (sink, toilets, wash machine), pour RV anti-freeze in them. There's probably a youtube video or twenty around. RV antifreeze, BWT, is mostly PG. That's where the "e-cigs contain anti-freeze" comes from. ;) But don't vape it! (I know YOU know that, but some lurking person might read this and try and vape the stuff). It's usually pink, and a few bucks per gallon. Just have a couple gallons on hand.
