    I have to share this...

    STORY TIME

We decided to cash out our <restaurant which will remain nameless> gift cards
because scuttlebutt has it the last one in our tri-county area may be closing.

(Hubs is stuck with some Ruby Tuesdays because they simply closed up ALL their
branches here at once... closest one now in Buffalo.)

    I had $25. He had $100.

He told me ahead of time how he planned to use all that $$$. I suggested he
order a couple things, then ask for the rest as take-out. No. Oh no, cannot
do that. "Takeout orders are smaller than in-house", he says.

I had an iced tea and 2 appetizers. Still had to put in an extra $7.

*HE* orders SIX appetizers AND an entree. I was looking for a hole in which
    to crawl.

So... the "food bringers" (which is not the waitperson anymore)... 4 of them...
all descend on the general area and look quite puzzled. There is no large party
to be seen for the EIGHT appetizers. They all go away, with the food.

They were sent back to our (smallish) table with 8 appetizers.

Two of the apps had to be placed on the windowsill for lack of room. I was
looking for a paper shopping bag to put over my head... simply mortified.
People at nearby tables were staring at us. And giggling.

All I did was keep looking down at my food, avoiding eye contact with anybody.

THEN someone brings his entree. Like there's all kinds of room for fajita stuff,
the tortillas, and all the condiments (THREE more plates). Of course, the fajita
was SIZZLING LOUDLY, calling even MORE attention to our table.

See... THAT is the kind of stuff, up with which I must put.
    Oh my!

It’s harder than that to embarrass me but I don’t do well at all with people staring at me.

OK, so next time *he* does that you could just whip out the cell phone (because I know how much you LOVE cell phones at dinner) and pretend to be online restaurant reviewers. You'll prolly get better service too. Just take lots of pictures of the food on the plates. And pretend to take notes.

    P.S.
You might be able to do that for real and get bonus things if you sign up for it first.
Chili's has been reviewed probably 1000s of times.

Many many years ago, we went out a few times a month. Now, it's only a few times
a year. The restaurant experience has degraded to the point we just don't enjoy it
any more. Unless you go to an independent NON-CHAIN place. To be honest, the
prices alone at those places are enough to drive us off.

But that's how we ended up having so many/much in gift cards.

All I have left is $25 for Outback and $50 for Longhorn. *HE* also has Applebee's, IHOP
and Red Lobster. *HE* will use those on Wednesdays when I'm at Dad's... *HE* said *HE*
    will do take-out for dinners.

Oh... and you don't have to use a cell phone any more. The tabletop "things" at Chili's
can take pictures, and then you just send them to your eMail for later use. But those
tabletop "things" are so nasty-full of old food and germs and Coronavirus, I would not even
think of touching one... THEN having finger food. Gah! Eeuw. :confused:o_O:w00t::cry:

Eight appetizers for 2 people?!?! And only two (2) of them were mine. No room on the table.
Windowsill. Confused servers... actually took everything back because "can't be". Staring.
    Giggling.

    That's why.
