And in that post from "quite a while ago", I also mentioned how
Husbear and I just simply stood up and left the after-dinner
gathering when each and every one of the others were immersed
in their cell phones.
Nobody noticed.
Nobody even wrote the next day asking what happened.
Now, I'm sure there are at least two folk here who would opine
that it speaks to Husbear and I... how boring and dull we must
be and that pixels on a
device hold more interest than our
presence.
Plausible and possible, but flawed.
It doesn't quite explain what is seen at other tables in a restaurant.
Unless OUR "
bore-fu" is so strong it transports across a room and
infects total strangers... pushing them into a stupour as well.
No... I think it speaks volumes as to what has happened to a rather
large chunk of the "human" race. It's insulting, rude, thoughtless,
and a raft of other descriptors.
