It's all either a scam, and/or it's due to efficiencies of manufacturing...
but there's zero reason in my mind to design cars (most all of them) such that you have to pull the whole dang dash off to change the heater core & evaporator core. "They" want over a grand to do it. It's less than 100 bucks in parts. I've seen people quote dealers charging $1,500 dollars. IDK the real cost, haven't called the dealer, but it won't be cheap with all that labor.

It could all be designed MUCH better. But it isn't....

It wouldn't be the first time I bypassed the heater core. Thank god they now have cheap battery generators powerful enough to run a portable heater. That's me old and lazy. Let the next guy worry about it.
