It's with a very heavy heart and tears down my cheeks, that I have to post the following...since I'd promised Uncle I would do it when the time came.

His sister called me early last night from Colorado, to let me know that he'd unexpectedly passed away last Thursday, in his apartment in Ft. Lauderdale. Another sister had been with him, so he wasn't alone. His cause of death hasn't been determined yet, but she said it could've possibly been a too high potassium level, or maybe a blood clot from the broken bone and surgery, or something else entirely.

He'd called me last Tuesday night...out of rehab then and back at his apartment. He and his sister had been trying to arrange home health care for him, because doing pretty much anything by himself, was challenging for him. His goal was to hopefully even just get back to how things were before he'd broken his tibia. When he sensed my heightened concern and worry about his situation, he said in his typical sarcastic way..."OH, don't worry...I'm not going anywhere anytime soon" and then laughed. I'd told him I'd still call regularly to check on him, and he said, "Nooo, I'll call you, 'cause I can't always get to the phone or I may be sleeping at irregular times." So, I reluctantly honored his request.

A package was delivered from him Friday, that he'd said he likely wouldn't get mailed until Friday. That was unusual for him, and I wanted to call, but since he'd said not to, I didn't. I'd learned over the years that Uncle meant what he said, and showing what he thought was more concern for him than he deserved...would cause his typical, funny sarcasm to just run amok. :p

I know for certain that ECF and the many friends he made here were an important, loved, and truly enjoyable part of his life. It was funny to me when he'd get miffed and say, "There's only 1 Uncle on ECF", when others who had Uncle as part of their user names were at times mistakenly referred to as just "Uncle". :D

I'm so glad I got to meet and visit with him in person twice and that we became very good friends for the last 3-4 years. He gave it all he had...when dealing with every new health problem that reared its ugly head. I'll definitely miss him and even his frequently posted "Happy Birthday" dirty old man with the candle posts. ;)

For the final time....Just Sayin'...........
I just found out about Dan today. I had a box of vaping stuff to send him and since we used to text quite a bit and I had not heard from him in a bit I worried. His sister Susan got my last text and so called me. She said that they think his end-stage kidney disease was partly responsible but they don’t have the autopsy report yet. Susan said to post a link to his obit for anyone who wants to read it. I am going to miss him terribly. He used to call me “dear lady”. I’ll miss that.

You do know you are "typical" and/or "normal".

Oh wow thank you @Bea-FL . He’s sorely missed, I loved him so much.

We had roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes, broccoli and peas tonight.

A beautiful man, indeed. He never complained about his illness and all the dialysis he had to undergo. I admired him greatly.
Thank you for sharing his obituary. :(

good morning, people and tibby. :)

The dealing is done and Pepper can get back to life and start getting ready to leave for Florida in a couple weeks. I've been bz buying a new car and selling mine. I have always gotten a new vehicle every 2 or 3 years until this last one. I held on to it for 15 years. (how time flies). It was immaculate. The dealer offered me $3k for it.:grr: I sold it for 7k privately.:) The dealerships are finally dealing again. I got 0% interest and almost 3k off the MSRP with a few add-ons thrown in. Not bad considering where the prime rate is right now.

Now to the important things like what did I get? I got the new model from Mazda: 2023 Mazda cx-50 Meridian Edition. They have 9 iterations of this model. The Merdian Edition is just below the top model, but I like this one better. It's a turbo charged engine with a beautiful leather interior and panoramic roof with all of the tech. I'm not going to go over everything it has, but needless to say it's got all of the tech available today. One of the cool features is the stop & go tech. If ur in a traffic jam, the vehicle will do the stop and go for you. Instead of having to apply the gas pedal to move 5 feet and stop--it does it for you. lol You just sit back and relax. Here's a couple of pics.
