The leak was NOT the pump.
It's either a hose (split or just came loose) *or* it's the power steering rack.
It appeared... from what I actually saw... to be a hose/line.
My money is on the rack. Easily $500.

It's that nebulous area BETWEEN urban and suburban. The two big
grocery chains are LESS than a mile away. ALL his doctors are, at
the most, 3 miles away. (But never mind that I've been taking him
to docs and doing shopping.) It was Friday he just wanted to go pick
up a prescription when the power steering thing happened. Even then,
he wrestled with the wheel and also went to his "dollar store" before
coming home... and his "dollar store" is right next to the big grocery
store. So... he is conveniently located... except for me... almost 60
miles round-trip.
Your next suggestion: Move him closer to me!!! Go on!!! Suggest it!!!
Late afternoon, and everything is done that needed doing, so now I'm ready for a nap......sure wish I could get out of the 'nap' habit, but my, it feels so good to have that sweet sleepy relaxed feeling.
