A couple weeks late, but started 2016 Christmas shopping with the traditional
Hallmark Star Trek "ornaments" for Hus. With it being the 50th anniversary,
there are FOUR pieces this year ... FIVE if you count the Comic Con "exclusive"
which I just can NOT bring myself to put in the cart. They ARE kidding with
the price, right??? He'll probably end up with a gift card of some sort and he
will be able to use his own money on that one.

    Good morning

It's cooled down here, but no rain.
    Good morning CES :)
We are having very similar weather.

Oh come now Bear, surely you admit to liking the appearance of "scruffy" Gibbs better than prim Gibbs :sneaky:

Good morning Tibs, Dale, Kat, Fran, Classy & CES
    Good morning Gracie :)

    G'mornin, snails!

Well, it's back to additional meds for high cholesterol and triglycerides for this guy. Curse my genes and laziness, LOL! Blood pressure's been 120/80 since as long as I can remember and my A1Cs were good. I can't help loving fat and sugar!!!
    Good morning MadO :)
Sorry about the added meds :( Hopefully you'll get that under control quickly :)

    Good morning snails. :)

Bear, don't feel bad. I'm sure it looks good on YOU. It's just his version that I was teasing Dale about. ;) :D
    Good morning Atty :)

Oh no! Do you suppose that is Bear's hair style of choice??

Wonderful Wednesday to all Snails, names left off so as to not FORGET SOMEONE :glare: .
Good morning lazy Bear

Neither the ST franchise nor the SW franchise do anything for me in their modern manifestations. Although ST reboot was a bit better than the SW one, it was all still copycat stuff.

I think I gave the ST reboot more or less a pass (2 or 3 stars), but the SW one I rated 1 star. The collectible stuff would be in the authentic original old-stuff for each...Circa 1960's (ST) or 70's/early 80's (SW). Still, I'm sure your Hus will want to collect the whole set now (because it ages). Yet, you have to wonder about how much people are willing to plunk down for that stuff.

Mad, so sorry you have to take, I assume, statins.........maybe try not to combine fats with sugar and possibly improve your numbers?? Cut down on the sugar, and have the good fats? Just a suggestion!

    OK>.....I'm out......cya all a bit later!

You'd have to discuss/debate with Hus on that. I know nothing of either. SciFi does nothing for me.

The collectibles just eat into his Christmas/Birthday allotment of $. If he gets MORE of those, he gets
LESS of something else. I have a budget.

I wouldn't necessarily call Episode VII a "reboot" (nor Eps. I through III). Could the stories of Eps. I through III have been done better? Absolutely. I have a feeling Eps. VII through IX will be a better trilogy overall than I through III.

I wasn't even talking about "good" vs "better". I'm not sure they could have copied any more content from the originals if you put a gun to their head. But I'm in the "disappointed" camp. Originality was just gone in that movie. There's nothing to say you can't have new content/plot even if you're "bridging characters". Heck, it's easier and better to have new content. They went "pure formula" and lost all of Lucas's creativity.

I can share your optimism about FUTURE releases, though, due to all the negative feedback they got from VII. You can almost bet that they'll try to write an actual plot and do some decent creative story telling next time. If they blow up a Death Star in this next one, I'm probably going to give up on them.

I want(ed)/plan(ned) to go out to the super-ultra-mega-garden-center tomorrow
to get the usual Fall mums (and probably a dozen or so Spring bulbs). They keep
all of the mums out of doors.

Given that we remain in a "severe drought" condition, it goes without saying not
much rain has fallen on VERY few days.

Put those two together... and we get 1.5"+ of rain for tomorrow. Naturally.

    :-x

Friday is out due to triannual Friends Gathering at Casino East's buffet.

I suppose Saturday will be an alternate date. But still, what the hell?!

...and I better get out there and cover the hanging pots that are most
prone to soaking up the rain. It's almost time to take them down and I
do not want to deal with heavy soggy mud when emptying the soil into
its Winter storage bags. It WILL mold, even in Winter cold.

It's sad. Summer is really over.
