Well, I'd move to a warmer climate for the winter, but I didn't win the powerball. So...

Speaking of which, there's a funny Q&A from that group. One excerpt:

    Powerball - Contact

    Good morning snails.
It's up to a balmy 9 degrees so far....but sunny. That's so all those "cell phone people" can get clear pics of you freezing.

Good morning, Atty :).....10 here with sun.

My car battery is "iffy"...I've put it on the charger the last day or two. Could be a short in the car's system draining it, but I think it's more likely the battery. So got a new battery, and am now charging it. The old one got me to the store and back no problems.

This one is taking FOREVER to charge compared to the old one...I think that's a good sign. At least I hope so. Then the swap and testing out.

I carry jumper cables with me, but I'm really eyeing one of those portable power stations with booster capability so I don't need a 2nd car (I'll keep the old battery for an assist for a few days, but will have to return it eventually).

    This one looks interesting:
MiniMax 12-Volt Portable Power Pack - Jump Start Kit-MA041118 - The Home Depot

Anyone use these things? There's many on the market, but I don't want to spend tons...if they're 2x the cost of a new battery, what's the point? That one linked is less than the cost of a battery, can charge all sorts of USB enabled things. Some even have an air compressor built in. :D

They have smaller ones that don't come with jumpers...they plug into the power jack (lighter jack) and then trickle charge the battery a bit over 20 minutes or so and then you try and start the car. But the Li-Ion ones with jumpers are small and can directly jump a car. Pretty cool.

That's as much a question as an FYI. Of course, if you have a bad battery or a short in the electrical system, you have to fix the problem first. This stuff, though, has many uses for "portable power" and I though it cool.

Never know who is looking for last minute gift ideas for their S.O. or kids, so FYI.

    Flyby.

My neighbor has one similar to this
    23beb015-e9a7-4c13-8b9d-2f75739fe233_1000.jpg

SPEEDWAY Emergency Car Jump Starter and Compressor with Rechargeable Battery-7226 - The Home Depot
I had to borrow it once for a jump start for my old car. It worked great. He says he checks it once in awhile and recharges it if it needs it. It's small enough to carry in your car or as he does behind his pickup seat. I think the jump starters are worth the money Poppys :D

I find this to be quite useful:

And so much more versatile, as well.

That's it... I am DONE wrapping gifts. Anything else yet to arrive
will go toward "HIS" birthday (30dec). Stuff just keeps trickling in
like an offensive and non-PC Chinese water torture. Enough, I say.

I fleshed out the rest of my budget on "HIM" with an Amazon gift
card. At least I took extra effort in that I put together a collage
of our kitties... Ty-Grr, Clare, T'mato (RIP :( ) and Oreo:

I put a 20-pound Purina "wildlife block" out on the deck for
the squirrels and birds. I have not seen "anybody" feed from
it yet. It's like a HUGE suet with corn, seeds, peanuts and
other stuff. If it really does attract the critters, I'll get one
for my Dad's patio. He'll enjoy it and it will drive his cat crazy.
