Man, that wind! What was a slight annoyance this winter, was a blessing in disguise, the crews working in the neighborhoods to trim all the trees around the power lines.
As atty surmised, allergies.
I was able to get by without one...must've been something else? Looks like I'll have to stock up early this year.

5 minute power loss. No idea what's up with that. Probably go out again.
Hubs made another call to the 1-800 phone number for our power company about our broken tree. They forgot to fax the paperwork. Tree company showed up already.

naturally! they know better than to leave an uprooted tree supported by just its neighbors in this kind of weather!
Quick update, then off to Dad's. I did not go yesterday.
The pine comes down tomorrow. Tree guy says - after seeing the heaving and
cracked base ground - I truly lucked out. I'm having the stump ground deeply,
too, because I want to put something small in its place. They will also neaten
up the lower canopy of the huge front maple, and take a large limb off the front
locust.

But a bargain, I guess, considering what might have been.

Wow! All these trees and their demise! We also had trees drastically trimmed yesterday, and one (kumquat) totally taken down cause it was totally infested with carpenter ants......I couldn't watch, but seeing that empty space at the back corner puts a crack in my heart. We picked and ate those kumquats for years and they were sooooo delicious.
Aww, sorry, Gracie. I remember I cried when they cut down my childhood maple tree in front of the family home...
I find the bond with nature to be so amazing and comforting and all too sad when it's compromised.
