Speaking of health insurance (someone was, somewhere..)

Cousin Wheels just called. He needs blood and urine samples (fasting tests). I'm driving him next week in the morning because he can only get a ride other ways in the afternooon. But anyway, the point is that I have to drive him to the HOSPITAL to have the tests done, not at any of the regional test centers.

Why? Because he says that his insurance coverage won't pay for it anywhere but at the hospital because the other places charge more for the test.

If correct, this is why HC is screwed up. At minimum, they should give him the OPTION of paying the up-charge out of pocket so he could use the nearby facilities. Now, maybe they do and he's not telling me. That would make more sense.

Anyway, Grrrrrr. So now I have to drive him 1/2 across town so he can pee in a cup. Grrrrrrrr. Not that big a deal compared to the usual 4 hour run-around while he waits for his Dr. and the Pharmacy and stuff, but still... There's a test center not too far from him.

I hope Cousin Wheels knows how lucky he is to have you, Atty

It really is annoying. Wonder why they can't fix it @retired1?????

i think kat wants retired to chew out whoever isn't doing their job at cloudflare! :p

Yes, I DO want retired to chew them out. I think he could scare them into fixing the problem :w00t:

There's a lot of things that could be going on, none of which we have any control over.

Cloudflare operates over 100 data centers worldwide which provide content distribution and DDoS protection for sites. It might not even be a Cloudflare issue, but something occurring on the backbone between the data center you're connecting to and the ECF servers. Generally, if I see there's an issue, I switch VPN connection points to force a connection to a different data center to see if I can get in. If I can, then it's not going to be an issue that we can really address as the issue is out of our realm of control.

Technically, you aren't even hitting the ECF servers when you're browsing the forums. Cloudflare is serving up the content for you. If the issue continues to be a regular occurrence, we can certainly address it with Cloudflare and see what's going on.

Steve getting scheduled for gall bladder surgery next week...
    Co-pay = $1800.00 !!!
    Seriously ?
If you haven't already, shop around. Different hospitals have different rates for same procedure, just make sure in-network. That procedure should be fairly standard technically, make sure they go orthoscopy.

    :2c:

Who knows? Switching hospitals (or even negotiating) could save you at least 1/2 of that!
