Yeah, the monitor should work with any.
Fran, do you know if it is a HDMI or VGA connector?
The top one is VGA, the left one is HDMI, the right one is DVI.
If it's an older VGA connector, you may as well get a new one anyway. Many graphics cards these days don't even support VGA anymore.
I know it's obvious, but worth checking:
Anyway, make sure the connector is tight. Also make sure tight on the back of the 'puter. Also check the POWER cord that it's firmly plugged into the back of the monitor.
A few other things:
1) Is the problem only while surfing and only in firefox? Try chrome for a while. I've been having occasional "flips" with FF and my older (no longer supported) graphics drivers. It gets a black screen with a white bar on top for 1 second and then resets the drivers.
2) Maybe check windows logs to see if you're seeing messages about graphics driver resets. Search for "Event viewer" if you don't have a icon for it.
3) Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
