Either are OK by me. The refurbished comes with warranty. Now, with the prices of, say, the 350ish one I quoted yesterday...new...I'm not too sure you can't just get an i3 for almost the same money.
Fran keeps going for an i5, and that's fine, but it's like putting a Porsche engine into a small compact car that you only drive to the store on the weekends. If you're just surfing the web and maybe some bookkeeping, meh. Go with the i3 and save a 100 bucks and put that toward a monitor.
The one Tibs quoted is a core 2 duo...it's OK. Meh. It's an older socket. I like the i3's instead, IMO. They have the newer socket and also more threads (4 threads) and hyperthreading.

not sure it has wifi onboard but definitely an ethernet connection which is what you're using for your desk top right now anyhow i'm pretty sure.

I have til the first of September to make a decision. Also you know way more about them than I do. I do limited surfing except when I'm looking for something like a computer...LOL.I also pay most bills online. I do want to have some speed,really hate slow loading. If I can do that with a i3 I'm fine with that.

Get an SSD (faster) not an HDD. You can get an HDD as a SECOND drive for more storage if you want it, like a drive D:

my hard drive is 1/10th the size of those new ones and i still got oodles of space after storing 100s of pictures ( mostly from that wedding in 2009
)for casual users the speed and size of the newer machines are way, way more than we could ever utilize!
