OK. I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that it's a SQL-ish database query result (I have no idea of the actual implementation).
The order may be indeterminate in certain circumstances.
Things of the same magnitude...could come back in "entry order...the order they were clicked in" or a random order, or like classy is saying in a yours-first order. IDK. But it's probably a result of a not completely define ORDER BY -or- there's something else going on.

well, i went hopping around a bit and now it seems they are ordered according to the number of clicks they got

so sad! when this new ecf theme was implemented i couldn't help but notice the side bar and its statistics. ever since then i kept my eyes on it and the number of members online barely hovers around the 100 mark. no wonder oliver is looking at ways to bring in enough money to pay for the upkeep ........................
