kind of like the modem you have now but instead of the dsl connection it's a cellular connection.
I was JUST asking some "tech-savvy" friends about this 2 weeks ago. All I
got back was pooh-poohing about "no such thing as unlimited data without
severe throttling" and lots of other stuff I did not quite grasp. :: duh me ::
The consensus was I/we should just dump the DSL and go for cable. What
we would save by giving DISH the heave-ho would more than pay for the
THREE X price jump from DSL to cable. We're grandfathered into a $23/
month DSL plan for the the highest speed offering. And we get such dismal
speed because we're almost last in the DSL service area. Another 2500 feet
more and we would not even be able to get it. It degrades over distance
without a switching facility.
But then I/we get into a very VERY splintered system where one service
has this and another service has that and a third service offers other stuff,
programming-wise. You know who could make a LOT of money?... someone
who can come up with ONE APP that pulls all the services together in ONE
spot... I only see a LOT of app-surfing that would be even more tedious than
the cable "program guide" we now know.
Until we make the jump, we'll deal with buffering.
