Good Saturday Morning to all!

I have been negligent in posting the now-annual "health care" rant
and rave. "They" are (were?) making me wait until December 15th
to renew... which gives a very short time window to iron out the
inevitable problems and questions and provide documentation as to
why I qualify for a specific plan.

However:

I get on the PC this morning to discover that "they" - in their infinite
wisdom - have made the decision to plop me directly right into
MediCAID!!!... with no action needed on my part!!!

And it gets even BETTER!!! I now automatically qualify for food stamps
and "HEAP" (they WILL START in January)... and a whole bunch of other
benefits, but they require an application process.

What IDIOTS!!!

I already called "New York State of Health" ( @ 8am sharp) to express
WTH, but they will NOT even TALK to me until the 15th.

NIMRODS!!!

Your pension income+SS probably disqualifies you. They only see the SS.
Sad state of affairs where our seniors on SS insta-qualify for medicaid, eh?

P.S.
Aren't you supposed to be on Medicare? Or did you not take all that yet?
Or are you not taking SS yet?

P.S. IDK about NY and the "mandate" but it may be that you MUST have insurance. Sounds like you're "force placed" into medicaid.

It used to be (before the Republicans messed it all up) that ACA mandated that everyone have insurance. So they come after you if you don't and/or auto-enroll you. But then it was challenged, and IDK what happened after that and it varies by state. NY probably extended medicaid to "fill the gap" and they may mandate that you have insurance and/or they auto place you.

Meanwhile... people who really really NEED those benefits
are denied and/or have to do gymnastics to prove they
qualify!!! They are SO screwed up, it's mind-boggling.
Yeah. This is why single-payer (medicare for all) makes so much sense. You're just "covered" and we all collectively "work it out" with coverage. The "takers" hate it, because everyone has to pay into a pool and they can't "skip out" because they're healthy. They want to pay nothing, while healthy, and then get coverage later when they are the ones that need it.

Anyway, simplify the whole damn thing. Saves $$$$ in eliminating much of that bureaucracy. I mean, we're paying anyway...so you'll see articles with "total cost" for medicare for all, but what they invariably leave off is the total costs that everyone is already paying today (which is LARGER over all).

And that explains it.

If you can show other insurance, they may be willing to drop you from medicaid.
They know I have other insurance... I get it through THEM!!!
The letter even says I no longer qualify for it. It's basically
MediCAID withOUT dental and vision, but it's not considered
MediCAID. I can see who I want whenever I want as many
times as I want with no pre-approvals or having to unearth
a MediCAID doctor.

My point is... I do not morally qualify for 'CAID, food stamps or
heating assistance. I do not WANT them. There are people
who actually NEED those benefits but have to jump through
dozens of circus hoops to get them... IF they get them at all.

The task ahead for me is to push those all back to the state and
just get renewed on my CURRENT plan. LOL... havoc shall ensue.
