Good morning, Fran, Tibs & Dale

We'll be taking our Abby to the vet since she had a cluster of 4 seizures late yesterday. They occurred too late to take her last night! She had her first episode last month and the vet said it may be idiopathic epilepsy and it did not warrant phenobarb at that time, but am sure she'll script it today!
These helpless furbabies are so precious, and it cracks my heart to see her so disoriented and after she came to, she wouldn't leave my side for a minute.

    Good morning Gracie :)
I’m sorry to hear that about Abby, I had one that was on phenobarbitals most of her life. It is sad and frightening :(
Good morning, tib, dale, and Gracie :)

Good luck for your fur baby, Gracie
Good morning again Fran, hope you got some more sleep.

"Fido" had a seizure once...but it never returned that I remember. It was weird, just totally looped out mentally.
There was a name for it that I don't remember. But I think he did have a Grand Mal. Was "scary" at the time. Vet gave him some type of shot.

Good luck Gracie. Wishing Abby the best of luck.
From what I read, it's not painful, it's very confusing to the dog, and they have meds to help if warranted.
    Optimistic!!!!!

Thank you all for your kind wishes for Abby!

Well, the vet was hesitant to script phenobarb right away cause he is not totally convinced that she needs it, at least, not for now! It looks as though it is idiopathic epilepsy! He wants us naturally to keep an eye on her and monitor any seizures she may have and if we could go a natural route, he would prefer that.
We have 'Pet Alive Ease Sure' a totally natural substance which we will administer .5ml 3x a day which is reputed to calm the nervous system.
We also have 'Just Relax' another herbal calming support formula! Just imagine, I have a naturalist for a vet......:)

Tweety, already printed the article and will show it to the vet the next visit which will be soon. Along with the cilantro it reads as though resveratrol may be a viable option. I've already given the vet the printed info about the toxicity of the Cuban Tree Frog which is suspect and he told me he will contact Dr. Steve Johnson from U of Fl. to find out more about the toxins and hope for an antivenom.

This has gotten extremely emotional for myself and my man, but we are keeping our cool and we will do all that we can for our lil princess.
