It was a very eerie feeling at the store (Tibs: Wegmans). A bit on the busy side, but absolutely
not mobbed. However, the appearance of the shelves - all over the place - seemed almost
surreal. I did notice NO muzak, so it was also very quiet.

NO white bread to be found, not even hot dog or hamburger buns. LOTS of rye bread. A gal
came out with a dozen or so loaves of "organic whole wheat", so I took one loaf off her hands.
Dad will just have to like it until things return to semi-normal.

He also prefers Progresso soup. TWO "full-flavor" choices, the rest were LIGHT or LOW SODIUM.
Campbell's totally gone.

Etc etc etc.

The self-serve salad bar, hot food bar, and tapas bars all "closed". Muffins and donuts all pre-
packaged (no touching of single items). And just as "my" Wegmans had NO potatoes on
Thursday, "his" Wegmans today had ZERO as well.

NY state is reporting 613 total positive cases of COVID-19, with 269 of those in New York City, as of Saturday night March 14).
no surprise, it's in the community and you have millions. now imagine how many of the mild cases are going undetected :(

You have to project a week ahead. The virus is invisible for 5-7 days. It's sneaky. So if you're seeing that many now, it's 4 times that at least in the population by next week. Maybe more, depending on the curve. And that's for the detected/confirmed cases.

That's why proactive measures are so important, you can't wait for the results because that puts you a week behind.

And your governor is nuts for not closing schools. Inconveniencing everyone a little is better than blasting the whole healthcare system to shreds overflowing it. Talk about inconvenience! Talk about family and friends!

Better to close the schools.

We planned to go out for anniversary dinner tonight, but I just remembered the 50%
seating capacity slashing which went into effect at 17h00 yesterday. So, maybe we
won't.
Just to close the loop...

We did go out last night for anniversary dinner. Early, 16h00. Not many folks out
at all. The place was ready for the 50% reduction by putting "reserved" placards
on every 2nd table.

I had a good view of the drive-up/take-out door and those employees were busy,
constantly.

We left around 18h00 and there was no one in the waiting area.

I had prime rib and ate AROUND the mignon. Brought that home. Their horseradish
was made in Hell. (Yum. ) Hubs ordered 3 appetizers and a meal. Brought one app
and the meal home. Gift cards from
there: gone.

So, yeah... we went out.
