I've been formulating a plan for when power goes out. Thought about getting one of those new battery operated solar generators from Walmart, has one on sale for $199 Westinghouse 300 watts unit great price though most have limits and hours of use. Can do just as good by picking up a bunch of LED LIGHTS from Dollartree and keeping loads of batteries on hand. Had one two days ago on past ten hours until I turned it off. Still have an 18 and 8 AH battery and 80 watt inverter available to run a TV, laptop, fan or air filter for 5 or 6 hours. If you want the battery last as long as possible running it on 12 volts DC is the way to go without an inverter. Having bad weather not an option for solar charging a unit. Could pick up a 50 watt panel around $ 70.00 and controller for AH batteries just in case the sun shows it face.

For me thinking the LED's and batteries are the way to go.

Good morning and good luck Mighty :)

We have a kerosene stove but discovered too late we’re out of kerosene, not sure what we’ll do in case of a power failure. Hate that our home is all electric :(
Hoping you don’t lose power. How are the roads? Can your hubby get out to get some kerosene before weather gets worse.

No we can’t get out except by walking and we already looked for kerosene, none in town :(
Calling some neighbors today to see if anyone has any we can buy, no luck so far

    Hi MM.

Get a lantern, it's a "tabletop lamp". And use rechargeable batteries (with charger)

It's not bad to think about a radio too. Some are even charged up by a winding magneto hand crank.

We might be okay, no more snow fall expected except for Wednesday, then it’s 100% for just that day.
