I was supposed to get J&J, but I ended up getting Pfizer. I'm not sure what happened, but I have 3 weeks before i can get the follow-up shot. I am supposed to get an email to tell me when.
Regardless, I am looking for a place to get my 2nd shot 3 weeks from today. I leave for florida in 4 weeks and i want to have my 2nd shot done with a week before i leave. I don't want to get the 2nd shot the day before i take off on a 1100 mile trip.

I thought so, too. This was done by the state. I asked the lady who gave me the shot and she told me that they have nothing to do with scheduling only giving the vaccination; but that i would get an email telling me when to show up. Like I said, I am not waiting around for someone to contact me, although i am ok with that. Truthfully, I don't think it is going to be an issue. There seems to be more and more vaccine available.
Ours was done by the State also.
that email will probably get to you at the right time. health depts have been very good scheduling the second dose exactly to the day it's due.
trying on your own will be iffy - no pharmacy allows you to make an appointment that far out (unless you had your first shot there).
