lol, pepper ;) dizziness and feinting were the reactions, not really uncommon with people afraid of needles

Those reports are a bit vague--are those people actually fainting? Fainting involves losing consciousness; "feeling faint" or "feeling lightheaded" is quite common in people who fear needles or may be just very anxious.

Having said that, every Covid vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and J&J) are administered by injection. I have only seen reports about fainting with J&J, but it may be a fluke. Other vaccines do cause, sometimes, dizziness, lightheadedness and sweating, and even anaphylaxis (very rare but also potentially lethal if not treated immediately), but I haven't seen any reports of actual fainting. Again, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

ETA: And now we're seeing first reports about blood clots associated with J&J (not unlike with AstraZeneca, which is actually similar to J&J ). Again, it's still extremely rare and may not be at all related to the vaccine, who knows. But since the blood clots apparently appear 3-4 weeks after the injection, everybody is watching.

Arm is sore. Egg-sized knot. Not that bad though. Can just "feel" it, but it's not like any pain, bruises can be worse. Haven't taken anything for it yet, just exercising it. Maybe a cold compress is in its future.
Otherwise, just maybe a tad tired. Otherwise no big deal yet. < 24 hours in.

Sore arm has been reported by 70-80% of people who got Covid vaccine (CDC). It's just an expected immune reaction in the muscle (inflammation). Nothing to worry about.

Covid arm is a different animal--it is attributed to an allergic (not immune) reaction. Red hot lesion, sometimes rash. Antihistamines may help, or topical cortizone if the itch bothers you (per CDC).

Hope it clears up soon!

Good idea. Plenty of rest and patience. This too shall pass. :)
And it's mostly passed, some residual (very minor) stiffness or something...you know that feeling when you get the flu. It's all like that.

BUT it passes quickly, 1 day-ish for me and I'm 90% "back". Had the shot Saturday, and Sunday was the kicker. Now, I'm good.

It took a week to develop fully last time. It all "rises to the surface" (not literal) over time. And the red area gets slightly raised, almost calloused. And then it goes away. That was shot #1. For THIS time, IDK what will happen.
But you're right, they recommended antihistamines (like Benadryl, I usually use Zyrtec). Guy giving shot said it should clear up in a few days with the drugs. Last time I just let it clear up on its own. Meh. Didn't really hurt much, just got red and slightly tender after a week.

apparently, according to local news, there was some actual fainting but most had had those episodes before. imo, j&j is attracting those with a fear of needles because 'one and done' suits them so much better ;)
anyhow, the boy felt nothing and also saw no commotion in the friend center while he was there at 2 pm

morning to all!

Update on second shot. Had a bit of arm pain with first shot. Second was given in the same arm but no arm pain. Last evening I got a throbbing type pain every 2-3 minutes at the base of my skull. More irritating than painful. I still had it when I got up this morning but it’s gone now.
