I know what the throat problem is - a few things.
It's much better than a couple of years ago when the closing spasms were going on !
LPRD - Laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (also called silent reflux) and a hiatal hernia.
It was actually a speech therapist that saw me having a spasm that knew what was going on !

Funny thing, avoiding citrus is one of the things I need to do...yet I am supposed to take this citric acid stuff for the kidney stones.
Did you know that a "healthy diet" is a bad diet for kidney stones ? Calcium and phosphorous oxalates.

And yes, I sleep on a wedge to keep elevated.

Omeprazole saved me, suffered for decades before that. YMMV. It has minor risks/side-effects too.
I get screened for esophageal cancer every few years.

The flooding in Europe looks nasty. I assume you've read about it Tibby.

I still hear people talk about how climate change is a hoax and that the Earth just has cycles. Groan.
This stuff is exactly what's predicted from climate change to ADD TO the cycles. More extremes. Meanwhile heatwaves in the Western US and droughts.
