Is there a nationwide shortage of regular peppermint candy canes? Last week, when I placed my Walmart grocery order, they substituted some sour fruit candy canes, and i had to drive to a second grocery store to get some normal ones. Last night I couldn't find any in the local grocery store or the dollar store. I had to settle for starlight mints. It's rather gross to top peppermint fudge with fruit candy.
No idea if there is a shortage. Just checked my WalMart online and they do have candy canes.
Weird for December.

Thanks, mm. Now that I think about it, when I first was putting in my Walmart grocery order, peppermint extract was out of stock. It came back in stock by the time I placed my order. It turns out it's lucky I was able to make peppermint fudge at all.Peppermint Oil Shortage
