-15 F. Thank God the furnace is holding up.
"Everyone's" car batteries are dying.... AAA reports 60% increase in roadside assistance calls. We're used to Winter here in MI, but we're not quite prepped the same way as, say, Alaska (they install plug-in block/battery warmers for overnight, or maybe low-heat their garages).

Hope all of you are well/safe. Good morning snails

Good morning Atty. :)
-15! That’s surreal  It’s a chilly 17 here .
That's cold for you guys! Particularly since you ???don't salt your roads???. I'd stay off them if I could. salt+sand would work at 17 (but basically useless below about 15 F).
Good morning Dale.

Yes sir it sure is! I think they do some salting in town but we live outside town limits in the hills. We’ll be stuck until the thaw.
I’m just grateful we still have power this morning!

Good morning Fran, that sucks, but as long as you have power I know you will be OK.
Everyone watch out for freezing pipes in any cold-spots in the house! DS called me and said he doesn't have hot water in his kitchen....oh, oh. I explained things to him, what to look for and what to do. IDK his house plumbing.

Then, I immediately ran several gallons of water through both the hot and cold side in my bathroom sink, tub, and then in the kitchen. ;) I'm OK. :) Now I'm worried about him when stuff thaws. I don't leave it trickle I just "move it" several times a day. So I don't fill up the septic tank letting things run all night. I didn't know he had that problem. My pipes have insulation around them on the wall that is exposed. And I've got the heater vent open full in the basement, will cost me a bit, but easier than frozen pipes.

Speaking of the cold, I checked the local news and....one of my doctors is talking about how to protect your sinuses if you venture outside, or in Winter in general. He's a SUPER NICE guy, did his residency at Stanford, and he somehow came ?back? here to MI. All his patients rave about his manner and care. I was pleased to see this video. I'll share it for fun and health:
    So get that scarf out!

It turns out that DS has a flexible plastic-tube "pipe" that runs up the wall to the faucet. It has thawed, and so far, no leaks! Yay! We'll have to look for where the cold-spot is some other time. So that crisis is averted, as far as we know now.

GS and DS's friend share a mobile home, and that has problems. So they're looking to do the repairs, if necessary. They have working water in the bathroom, just had to shut it off for the kitchen.
Mine seem OK. Neighbor gal is OK. [Wipes brow] Low temp tonight is "only" about 0F.

    Pizza (homemade).

    Goodnight snails.
