Morning Bear.
ETA: glad that it doesn't affect you. and again glad you got while the getting was good.
Moanin'!!!
Yes, I got 01sep-31dec fully-paid health and dental (4 months after last "official day"). On 01jan, I'll go on the state's high-deductible policy because I qualify (it's based on earned income for the household). Paperwork is already in and changeover in place. Husbear's income does not count, so I am golden in qualifying (we're not "really" married).
The 1,100 people who go hit last week: Their "official" last day is 30dec... and they will get no 4-month paid bonus time. Unless they are in my situation (household earned income, need to work, etc.) they will have to scramble fast to find health/dental bennies. And you can bet it'll cost a bundle.
I do NOT feel badly for those over 65 who have to pay for Medicare gap coverage. My Dad lives on SS
ONLY, pays for his, and he still has plenty left over for a decent life. He gets no pension. He has no investments. Once you qualify for Medicare, ANY employer should be off the hook in paying anything. Just my opinion.
ETA: Wow... lots typed while I was composing. Let us know how things work out {{{Tibs}}}.
