Do I brave the cold, wind and snow to get additional new year's eve horsies doovers... or stay in and make do?

We are stuck here, tonight. :( Husbear gets out at 18h00 and back in at 07h00. :( Had invite to "swan song" party at palatial condo... the guy is building a temple with panoramic lake view for 2014... but 45 miles away. Has not worked since he was 43. I'm THINKING he has bucks. Sigh.

Sigh. Sigh.

Will probably sleep through 23h59 - 00h01 anyway.

Sigh.

::wine sip::

I still want to buy it when he puts it up for sale. But the taxes would be astronomical. He says about $8K per year. (But less when 65+.) Plus "association fee" of $350/month.
I dunno....I read "palatial" as too much space that requires cleaning, but that's probably just me...

On the plus side, you probably wouldn't have to rake leaves all autumn or clear snow in the winter... :thumb:

Well, "palatial" is just over 2x the sq ft we have now. And it is gorgeous. And it is pristine. The lower level would be a PERFECT "elderly Dad" apartment-of-sorts ... need to think about that possibility. It's on a hilltop that overlooks the ENTIRE west/north/east metro area... quiet... never see ANYbody. One downside is the access road... ESPECIALLY in Winter.

Off to the 'net for filling ideas!

Mustard, mayo, worcestershire, horseradish... paprika to finish.

Husbear will be SO IMPRESSED!!! :)

Local big grocery chain wants $16 for 24 halves.

We also have rye and pumpernickel cubes w/ corned beef dip... "colossal" shrimp cocktail... baked ham for sammies... sparkling wine (he does not drink)... au gratin potatoes with ham (leftover)... romaine salad... and whatever else can be yanked out of the fridge.

I did OK. yeah... it's OK.

ETA: Hmmm... grocery ones have "piped" filling. I do not have a pastry bag. Oh well, just slop the filling into the eggs.

Oh and, hey TIBS... they have your rye bread!!!

Despite Tibs' deviled egg episode of this past Thanksgiving... 8 boiled, cooled an peeled with minimal damage.

I have no idea where to go from there.

Off to the 'net for filling ideas!

keep it simple ;)

mayo, relish, mustard powder and paprika - bacon bits do go well ....................

i have thought back over that epic fail numerous times and feel only one conclusion supports the dismal end result - i must have forgotten to salt the water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering how you made out on that (during the "Cherie incident"). Did the transaction work out for you?

let's just say it worked ;) at $8.00 per pound by the time it was delivered and not at its freshest i'm concentrating on finding a kroger that can still order it! i might be lucky in lynchburg - i will know more on the 14th!
