I worked for a summer during high school at a small service station. The owner had extreme arthritis in his hands, hips and knees (he couldn't even make a fist, his hands were so bad); but he ran the place by himself with just part-time high school kids to help out.

Sounds like the x-ray helped a lot in diagnosis though... (Tibby!).
Major bummer Fran. I'm no expert...but ....Worse case...they have replacement joints. Also some limited methods to control it getting worse....depending on type of arthritis.
IDK how the heck someone pays for that stuff though.
