hmm, since i'm in the middle of fixing supper somebody help refresh my mind .............. did any of those examples have anything to do with overheating in a car? thought it was all during charging and by stacking

i know one thing for sure though - nobody will use a pv left in the car in the summer time - way too hot to hold - i know;)

there was one where a battery was left charging in a hot car...the charger might not have been the appropriate kind (though i have heard of GPSs left in hot cars venting/exploding/burning-whichever term is most accurate- causing some damage to the car...)

I tend not to leave electronics sitting in hot cars, but hey, that's just me.

My GPS is currently in the truck, but it quit holding a charge a year ago. If I need it I have to plug it in. My e-cigs rarely sit in one more than 10 minutes though, gotta have my vapes! :)

well - i gotta take that fellow's side then, y'all went offtrack!;) unless something else is being done to them, batteries in a hot car have not been known to vent on their own

even though it's better not to subject them to that type of environment to be on the safe side! :D

Lol and can you name me one single thread on this whole forum that didn't go off track at some point? ;) We'd have been good if someone hadn't insisted that li-ions don't explode.

DH's GPS failed and we had to get a new one--the guy at BestBuys asked if we leave it out in the car. Yeah, they don't like to get hot. In California, one has to be very careful. The temperature inside a car can reach 110 deg and more. Pets die, children die.

I think one can lead to the other. For example, charging causes heat. Overheating to a certain point causes a reaction/venting. Charging a hot battery = bad idea.

Also heating them can cause the guts to ....have problems. So charging them or using them later can cause issues. I think. Not sure.

Hi Katya!

Yeah, I used to take it out of the vehicle when it was working properly. It's when it the charge wouldn't hold anymore that I started not caring if it was in there or not. Since we bought it in late 2008/early 2009 I believe it's just a case of old age.
