Looks like the carving will be even later in arriving... family problems for Cherie:

(From Facebook)
Cherie Currie shared a photo.

I don't do this type of thing but mom could sure use some prayers. She's such a lovely woman. If you have the time to send some positive energy her way we would be grateful. Much love to you all.

Two loves of my life. My son Jake and my momma Marie on her 89th birthday. 10/12:

cocoon of lunacy
... and speaking of finials ...

When the deck was built in 1988, I commented to the builder about the finials that were put atop all the main vertical railing supports. You know... these things:

He said that they were "finials that say 'Welcome'!!!".

I said that they provided overflow seating for 15!!!

:D :D :D

fallic finials!

poor cheri.

I hope you get your bear soon Bear....

I do, too. But... the weeping cherry that was planted is going to be replaced. It bloomed like crazy in mid-April, but since then has sprouted only a handful of leaves. That's not good. So, the landscaper said he'd be out LAST week to take a look. No show. I sent another note. He said he'd be here THIS week. It's Friday. Still has not shown. The next note will go to his boss. Not sure if they would plant a new tree before Fall. I/we may be stuck with a big twig in the ground until then (ie: all Summer)... and the carving would not have a "good home" anyway.

I really should get all the pics off the cameras... will do that now.

1. New York
> Spending per pupil: $19,076
> Total education spending: $59.2 billion (2nd highest)
> Pct. with high school diploma: 85.0% (16th lowest)
> Median household income: $55,246 (16th highest)

The New York school system spent far more per pupil than any state in the country. The state spent
$13,287 per pupil on teaching in fiscal 2011 — more than double the national average — and was the
only state to spend more than $10,000 a student on student instruction. A good portion of that money,
$8,196 per student, went to pay for teachers’ wages and salaries. This was the highest of any states’
school systems. Total education expenditure continues to rise in the state, which has been the number
one spender on education per pupil since 2006. The amount spent per student has risen by at least 2.5%
in each of the past five years. This relatively large spending on students, however, has not necessarily
paid off in terms of high test scores. The percentage of students proficient in math in both fourth grade
and eighth grade was worse than the United States as a whole.

I just LOVE paying school taxes.

I wonder what the chances are of only people who have demon spawn currently in the system to be the ones solely responsible for school taxes???

Zero to non-existant, Bear.

That's too bad, don'tcha think? It would only be one more thing to consider before folks stick it in each other and breed. But then again, it seems there is not much consideration going on in the first place.

It's very humid and I am ornery right now after doing just the trimming.
