it's not supposed to be 55 in here. Usually it's about 72 (which is already too cold for me). What stinks is that my desk/computer is in the main lab. The office space is used for experimental equipment that needs to be in a location where you can close the door and work in the dark. Sigh.

I used to have a space heater, but it got stolen last spring. :(

3M Window insulator kit (or a knockoff).

Morning snails.

Husbear came home with two of those kits (can do 2 picture windows and 9 "regulars") a few days ago. I do *NOT* want to put double-sided foam tape all around the casing. That crap NEVER comes off. The boxes still sit, unopened. I shall suggest he take them back. This extreme cold will only last a couple days. It is not worth the mess those kits (tape) will make. To me, at least.

I agree. Some people build "frames" for the windows out of molding.
I particularly agree after having recently fixed a drywall issue from "sticky tape stuff".

However, for many of us, the 3M thing is very economical and helps keep it cozy. Besides, CES said she's looking to replace the old windows anyway. So in that case...meh.

... I do *NOT* want to put double-sided foam tape all around the casing. ...

...and just about every "regular" window has mini-blinds, where "the works" is flush with the wall above it. The directions say to NOT put the tape on wallpaper. So... how does one seal the top when the blinds "works" are all there?... and the area around is wallpapered???

I can just see it... fit for a trailer park.

The looks and tape removal are why i only did it in the rental house. The ones that you heat shrink after install look better than some, but you still have the issue with paint removal when you take off the tape. I think i just went under and behind the mini blinds, but it's been about 8 years- so i could be mis-remembering.

Home waiting for the dryer repair guy. With an "around noon" ETA, who knows when he'll get here.

Found a space heater to borrow at work, so i was able to get some work done without having to type in gloves.
