Thx Fran. Night to you and our "Mistress of the Night...Tibby" too!

P.S.

I just read this:
http://www.dailytech.com/SpaceXs+Gr...r+Than+Ever+ in+Recent+Demo/article30095.htm
IDK what SpaceX is trying to get to with this (will have to read up on it later) but, they get bonus points and kudos for the video AND music selection. Direct link to the video here:

lol.
I'm not sure how Freudian this whole thing is, but it's rocket science stuff so it's cool by definition.

SpaceX is working on a 'controlled landing' rocket - you know, like the old scifi rockets - VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) rockets.

That's not to suggest that Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL), as it's called, hasn't been highly sought-after. In fact, it's something people have wanted flying machines to do since pretty much the dawn of flying machines. If you can land where you take off, you can develop rocket-launching pads pretty much anywhere. And the more launch pads you have, the easier it is to explore space--and the more viable the business model for space tourism.

Bah. I actually saw comments on that article from people that have been drinking the "B.S. Kool Aid". Turned it all into "anti government" and "Only free enterprise" could do this. LOL.

NASA played with this stuff about 45 years ago. It's not new or even that amazing. Note that the rocket only went up 24 stories. Also, SpaceX is just starting to do what NASA DID DO 45 years ago. Not that I'm touting Government or anything, but sheesh!

The point is....you need way more than double the fuel....because of the added weight of the fuel itself. That's why NASA doesn't do it that way...even today. Very inefficient. A lot easier to just land the capsules with air-breaking and a parachute like they do now. Or use the space shuttle approach. I suppose you could save some thrusters for final landing like the Russians do. But basically the same thing...air breaking and chutes.

So like I said...what's the REAL point? So far...gimmick that anti-government people can comment about on websites.

I thought it was a really cool combination of song and video. But as to the practicality of it...meh so far. Maybe I'm missing something. Who knows.
