Hopefully the recent rise in idiocy showing up in my life is just a passing fad; otherwise I may go 'technical'* It's showing up in threads on ECF, at work and this morning, even on my favorite morning radio show.

Hey Tibby, I have a question:
I know German has some neat words for stuff that just don't map one-to-one to English. States of being, and stuff.
Anyway, do they have a word for "acquired/purchased something after a lot of thought"? This would be different than just "purchased". It would be Uber-Purchased...only not quantity but careful thought. Like selecting your 1st mod. You know, research, uncertainty, narrowing it down, then purchased. Committed to a decision.

The story is not. Very sad. No wonder there's so much home schooling these days. I wouldn't want to send my kid to school where I knew it was run by idiots.
And it's the school, not the Feds. The Feds came in reaction to the school calling them (as I read it). And the school decided to expel her. And it "Stands by its decision". Sad. If the Feds came 1st, then it's their fault too.

The atoms that the carbon monoxide are sitting on are probably out of focus. At that magnification, the depth of focus is pretty darned limited.
Re, the school farce. i just think of all the coworkers i know that did experiments like that all the time when they were kids. one less person likely to grow up to be a scientist. sigh.
