So apparently you can't make a drippable genesis...

Before I gear up and make my sorta genesis mod soon, (waiting on parts and time), I decided to shortcut by making a dripping genesis atty, (no resevoir/cart/tank/etc)....

A search doesn't turn up much, but unless I'm missing something, it doesn't work so well. I managed to make a decent coil, (2.8 ohms, 7 or 8 wraps) on my first try, built it into an RCA jack following the tutorials on here...it fires, but the mesh wick doesn't hold more than a drip or so of juice, so about 2 puffs or so. Also, any juice that gets between the coil and the SS needle shorts the circuit, so no heat flows. Mesh was about 15 mm x 22 mm, (rolled so it was 22 mm long).

Anyone know if I did anything wrong? Or does dripping on a genesis atty (sans tank/etc.) just not work well?

Thanks!
Keith

Yeah, I didn't have any silica to pack in :-(. To be honest, I'm kind of a bit scared of it, that's why I want to make genesis'.

What's too long about it? Should the whole mesh wick be shorter? How does that help? (Honest questions, I'm trying to learn all I can about these, but there's still a lot I don't know!). Should the coils be closer together?

shortyjacobs, 22 mm long SS wick used as heater only is too long. I think, you have to make the spiral about 5 mm long and leave about 2-3 mm of the wick under the coil and about 5-6 mm above. Also you can use a L-shaped mesh to achieve more volume capacity of the wick. Position this thick part of the wick above the heater. Instead of L-shaped mesh you just can bend about 5 millimeters of your mesh in the upper part and then roll the wick.

I let my mesh just about touch the base on my A-2 (it is oxidized completely) and I can drip 5-7 drops in no problem. I just have to be careful not to over do it and block the air hole. In fact when I use it as a geni dripper, I have to make sure the air hole is in the "up" position as I vape it. I also have to vape it right away, or it will leak out the threading on the base. Otherwise, it works very well.

Why not use less mesh and fill it with stainless wool?

I'd love to, but I was afraid that it would short the coil out....I could oxidize the SS wool too, just like the coil, but it'd be tough to make sure it was complete, and I've hard oxidized mesh doesn't hold much juice either...
