I absolutely agree with this! I know this is old, but I am replying simply because this person had a clue soooooo long ago that it's not JUST the nicotine, it's all of the other crap they put in cigarettes that make vaping, not less effective, just different, because we are no longer poisoning ourselves with the ~4500 nasties in cigarettes.

E-cigarettes have proven themselves VERY effective, and the FDA to date cannot locate even one person who has been harmed by them. I wonder what the worldwide total numbers are for people who have completely quit using tobacco because of e-cigs, and further, how many people have quit using both?

It looks like you are new to PVs, Sassyonemeis, so welcome and congratulations on discovering one of the genuine alternatives to analogs!

i haven't read all 100+ pages of this thread, and i am interrupting the current flow with my comment, but this seems to be the place of interest for my comment.

i want an e-liquid mfgr to do an extraction/purification from Syrian Rue which is fairly simple, easy, and quick, and then dump a strong dose of Harmine/Harmaline into some 48mg Tobacco flavored PG e-eliquid. i need something more in my e-liquid, it is not satisfying enough to me, and i find that i must hit on it constantly. but it only makes me sleepy and tired. something is definitely missing in e-liquid.

rue harmine acetic extraction - Google Search

really, it's simple enough for anyone with basic alkaloid extraction techniques to experiment with. Syrian Rue seeds are extremely cheap, but require a grinder. alternatively, Harmine/Harmaline and cousins can be purchased as well. i would like an e-liquid that "hits me" enough so that i can put down my vaporizer and forget about it for a while. i think pure nicotine is metabolized far too quickly, and keeps vapers sucking on their vaporizers too much. it is the beta-carbolines that make you feel like you had enough for an hour or so.

...blah blah blah...
Everyone, before responding to any post by 2cb, please check his/her post history. This person may just be a <CensoredByMyself/> or may be a sinister troll. Either way the best response is probably none. I hope that my post (perhaps even unnecessary) will be the last to reference anything posted by 2cb in this thread.

no, i am not a troll, and i won't be here for long. but i am sure many value the troll warning on their behalf. my only intention here is to drop off the results of cleaning atomizers with Lye, and a few thoughts of my own on vaping, having a background in chemistry and ethnobotany. i am temporarily interested to see what people may have tried to benefit e-liquids in that respect, but am realizing this isn't the place, so my information is merely for those that might find it upon and internet search. i am not a troll, but i am probably more educated than most people here, and i don't think i am a liberal/socialist (knowing what is best for others, especially when ignorance is the true foundation) as was my introductory experience, and i am not a vaping fanatic ... ie, won't have much need to post on the topic. i just want to leave what comments i have that might benefit someone else searching on the internet in the future, and/or leave my own personal notes for whatever it may add/subtract to the vaping community.

i think it is important to acknowledge that not everybody vapes because they want to stop smoking tobacco, or because they think tobacco and it's alkaloids are evil. maybe some people think enjoyment of nerve-receptor-modifying alkaloids is a sin or something, but i don't. i classify such effects as one would with the effects of any food that is ingested. in my research and life experience, radioactive fertilizers and chemical additives are major evils of tobacco. most everything from deep in the earth is highly radioactive, including chemical fertilizers, and studies show that even non-smokers are now as radioactive as smokers due to the amount of radiation they get from eating the products of mass agriculture, and we wonder where cancer comes from. in my personal experience American Indian all-natural brands did not have the same toxic (lung/oxygen-levels) and carcinogenic (ability to create a sore spot) effects as the typical commercial brands. tobacco does have many powerful anti-cancer/germicidal alkaloids in the Harmala family and Nicotine as well (anti-angiogenic). also, the Nicotine juice still comes from tobacco, so switching to vaping isn't like an attack on the tobacco industry, if anyone is thinking that. my own personal reason for vaping was not because i hate natural tobacco, but:

a) so i don't have to run out of buildings into sub-zero weather to get a nicotine fix.
b) so i don't have to deal with the hassles of ordering cigarettes out-of-state.
c) so i don't have to pay $10/pack (for millionaires only in my state, AK).
d) because boxes of cigarettes take up a lot of space in my little home.
e) so i don't have to worry about bothering others with the effects of the habit.
f) so i can have a puff in my home, and not dirty my walls/furnishings with tars.
g) because vaping is probably healthier (but not a primary purpose for vaping).
(i don't live just to be healthy, i can't imagine life without a bad habit).

that said, i prefer vaping to create as an enjoyable experience as possible as i read or study or work, etc. after 2 months, my complaints with vaping are:

a) i never seem to feel satisfied after just a few hits, and i have a problem putting the vaporizer down/away, to move onto other things in life - but this will possibly change as i lose my addiction to the range of alkaloids that seem to provide a "finishing effect" as cigarettes do for me. this is something i really wish i had - something that made me feel like "that is enough, no more" after 5-10 hits. thus, my temporary interest in the Harmala alkaloids.

b) vaping isn't as convenient when working or engaged in physical activities (ie, you can't let a vaporizer just hang out of your mouth, or set it down in snow, or on a dirty rock in mud, etc), and it's not convenient outside in sub-zero weather because the batteries freeze.

Snus WTA review-
Last month I volunteered some Thunderberry snus (16mg) to Dvap to process into wta. I have been using it for the past week and all I can say is "WOW"- this is it kids. I have been doing the vaping/snus/analogs for over a year and have been having a hard time shaking the analogs completely. Even though I still do some analogs, WTA gives me a very relaxed feeling and same back of the tongue analog taste. I've tried it straight and mixed with e-liquid and prefer the mixed as it seems to be more pronounced in its effect. For the occasion I replaced my 510 with the e-go T and so far I am pleased with the results.
So, I will continue to experiment with this and post any further developments. I just hope that in the very near future that this will become available as I feel it is the missing element.

State of Confusion
I've read a lot of this thread but not all, and haven't posted in it yet. From what I can tell, there seems to be a general concensus that the nicotine in vapor from e-cigarettes is not absorbed by the lungs as effectively as it is in analog cigarettes. Forgive me if this has been answered and I missed it, but WHY? Does it have to do with particle size possibly?

This is such a confusing sentence. I wish I understood what you are trying to say here, 2cb, but I don't know if you are around to respond. If you are, then please clarify.

Also, since you mentioned being educated, here is a philosophical (i.e., this is not intended to trigger some sort of political ideological debate) aside: your use of "liberal/socialist" reminds me that the two terms have become commonly accepted in the United States as being interchangeable/synonymous, when they are unambiguously very different. From a detached perspective, it is a pretty awe-inspiring testament to the power of propaganda.

In answer to your question, mjmetz, what I've read is what you guessed--something to do with particle size. If I understand it correctly, nicotine floating into your lungs on smoke particles is riding on smaller particles than the nicotine riding on PG or VG, so it is able to enter your bloodstream that way. It sounds like the nicotine riding on PG or VG vapor is more effectively absorbed by your mouth and nose mucosa than by your lungs. I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just telling you what I understand from what I've read.

Couldn't agree more. I am a socialist but not necessarily a liberal. I don't understand why people can't seem to understand the difference between the two XD

What happened to DVAP, Kinabaloo, Tceight, and the other experimenters? Nobody has posted any WTA results for quite some time. I was hoping that someone would at least post a step by step process on a video and not just images. I'm starting to get a little paranoid thinking that the tobacco industries had them and a few forum onlookers whacked off (no I don't mean it that way).

I'm wondering the same thing, Barney. Kinabaloo posted the entire process on a separate thread, then apparently deleted the whole thing (or the men in black deleted Kin AND the posts) and of course it happened before I could copy it all down, so now I'm screwed come armageddon. For the moment I'm stuck with the traditional vaping and snus combo.

i havent read much of this thread, but im just wondering, if you hear people talk about nic overdose from vaping, how is it that they arent getting whats advertised, nicotine? also, i vape more then i was smoking, but i feel like im getting nic, i think i just vape more because i really enjoy it more. is there proof out there that the nic in our juice isnt getting into our system the way we think?

Most reports indicate that we get about 10% per puff of the nicotine we got from cigarettes. Of course that depends on the nic level you're vaping. But people vape all the time instead of every-so-often like they did with cigarettes so that averages out. Basically, smokers are amazing at self-titration and keep themselves in their own comfort zone effortlessly. This thread morphed into an investigation of other things we got from cigarettes that we're not getting from e-juice and we kinda decided the main thing many of us are missing is MAOI's.

Don't worry--you're getting nicotine if you're vaping it.

Thanks BCB. They probably got bought off by the tobacco companies. Either that or they all got together to patent it and make some profits. I hope the later and can't blame them if so. We'll just have to wait a little longer. I did see this happening a few months ago but didn't want to suggest anything to ruin it for us all (if I didn't already...oops).
