What I did not expect to find, is the entirely different sensation it seems to produce for me.

From the beginning I noticed how it made my mouth slightly tingly in a way the other liquids did not, even when they were of far higher strength (over double). I also seem to perceive the feeling of the nicotine entering much stronger after a few puffs. It really does feel very different to me than regular liquid, and if i had a blind sample of each at the same strength and same flavor, I feel very confident I could pick out the PI very quickly.

Placebo? Well I would be a fool to say that wasn't a possibility, but I am really convinced there is something different here that I feel when using it instead of regular mixing liquid.

Has anyone else tried this and noticed anything similar?

Yes. You've described exactly how PI tastes/feels to me. I tried setting up a blind test for myself (using two white 510s) but it was pointless. The PI 510 was easily identified by the tingly/peppery taste. So there's no way to blind test for difference in effect on the body.

There must be some chemical difference but I have little idea what it could be. A couple of wild guesses, a) Perhaps what arrives in the body after heating/vaporizing is different due to the impurities in the other liquids, maybe there's even a catalytic reaction which makes a small impurity have a large effect; b) Perhaps the difference is in the PG, though I have no idea what difference there could be in that.

Wow. Thanks for the response Mister! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone (so this is likely not Placebo effect going on)

I do believe the difference is not in the PG though. From what I understand, the PG base of the PI is the same "pharma grade" PG that TW sells separately, which I have tried mixing with regular mixing liquid - the resulting mix still feeling like ordinary e-liquid. Only the PI itself for me makes this big difference in both the mouth and the feeling of the nicotine when vaping, so from what I have read and experienced I have come to the personal conclusion that the difference lies in the nicotine and/or purity.

One thought I have been having about this, as you also suggest, has to do with the impurities that are present in regular liquid. Could something else in regular extracted mixing liquid be hindering the nicotine delivery somehow? Whether this could be the case though, or whether the nicotine itself in PI is just different somehow, I definitely feel the difference between them.

More thoughts anyone? I'd love to know whats going on here..

Elf, my experience with the PI is the same as yours, but let me add that I also have 75mg from Blip Labs in TX and 48mg from My Freedom Smokes in NC that seem no different. Unflavored or flavored from TW (red label) or others don't seem to scrath the itch as fast and , so, are less satisfying. The 3 above are surely made under tighter QA controls so maybe the others have more trash or something (solvents?) that slow absorption. I don't know. Atleast, that's the way it is in my world .

There are two possible reasons for the difference between PI and other eliquids that are being noticed that I can think of.

1. The other eliquids you have used are mislabeling the strength of the nicotine they contain. I get a peppery sensation from the nic liq that I use. Although it doesn't seem quite a strong as I got from nic gum. Incidentally, the vendor I got it from was tested as being near label strength by DVap.

2. PI uses a variant of nicotine as does nicorette gum which is actually nicotine polacrilex. This gum gives a strong peppery/tingling sensation.

I see your point and agree the nic levels seem to be an average, not precise. As for the variant, that may be,too. I did a fair amount of reading on these when I first got into this and, as I recall, I understood pretty well. My short term memory bit the dust right after reading, so now . It's easier for me to let Dvap do the thinking :D.

Generally, I've not found 1. to be the case, and 2. isn't possible.

Nicotine polacrilex is simply nicotine bound up in a solid ion exchange resin.

OK strike 2, and thanks for the explaination of Nicotine polacrilex.

Regarding 1, I'm just wondering if, since he's using PI, he was comparing it to another TW product (red label) which tested low in nic. This would be a reason why it didn't taste peppery to him.

One of my comparisons was to Dekang 24mg unflavored. I'd be surprised if a Dekang liquid is off the mark.

Edit, more info: My other comparison was to a 36mg purchased from Eastmall. No manufacturer label on the bottle. When diluted to 24mg it seems very much the same as the Dekang though it has a bit more color. I would not be able to tell them apart in vaping though, just visually.

Thanks, Victor. I needed a good laugh.:lol::lol:.

No problem, haven't seen OTD around today, so I gotta pull double duty. It'll quiet down when the smart guys show up :).

Nah, not a PI fan ($$$). MFS is as good and great prices. Also, I've absorbed alot of Dekang flavored 36 that I can chain, but mix my own 35 and I can lay my PV down for a bit :). I should add, in all fairness, the Dekang was 24 boosted to 36.

Well it doesn't seem to be just the tingly sensation that I notice, but also that for me, the nicotine in PI seems to "hit harder and quicker". I have never experienced this in any other liquid, from about 8 different suppliers now that I have tried. Now vaping non-PI certainly gets me the nicotine too, theres no doubt about that - but the nicotine absorption is unarguably slower than smoking analogs, and you don't quite feel the nicotine rush as you would an analog after a period of non-nicotine consumption. Well PI nicotine to me doesn't give me that same nicotine rush either, but it does certainly feel like a "much improved" delivery to me, as i said, harder and faster than any of the non-PI mixes I have had or made so far.

The third thing that I notice differently about PI vs. the others I have tried is the apparent strength to me.
For instance: The non-PI 36mg liquids I have either purchased or mixed myself from 48mg or 60mg sources - I vape these just fine at the rate I used to smoke before vaping.
But if i try this with PI mixed to 36... I cant vape for more than just a few minutes before I just have to put it down... It's just way too strong to vape at my usual rate.
With PI, I find myself at about 20mg and this seems really good for me.

So the tingling, the perceived speed and "hit" of the absorption, and the overall strength seems different to me. Different than about 40 different bottles from maybe 8 different sources. To me, this seems odd. Very odd. I am dying to know why this is.

I have decided I very much like the effects I feel from the PI compared to the other liquids and mixing liquids. I originally tried it because of the "tested purity" bit and wondered if it would taste "cleaner" to me than the regular mixing liquids - and yet I ended up liking it most of all for far different, very unexpected (and yet very welcomed) reasons.

2. Mental Awareness state (Mental Fog)- No fog but very tired in early afternoon.

3. Anxiety (Relaxed state) and restlessness- Slept normal the night before. Energy in morning with crash early evening.

4. Perceived GI (Gastro-intestinal) effects including effects on bowl movements- have the runs

5. Effectiveness of and frequency of vaping sessions to reduce cravings- Not very effective today.

6. Number of traditional cigarettes consumed (If any)- 18
