So, I'm fairly new to the whole e-cig thing - I told myself if I ever started smoking over a pack a day I would find an alternative, and my roommate had a blucig that I had used before and liked, so I bought their starter pack and a few sets of the replacement pre-filled cartridges.

I've enjoyed their pre-filled ones, but my roommate used to refill his own with vapor and had awesome flavors (like apple pie!)... He gave me one of his vape flavors that he didn't like but I did, but when I try to refill my own I get tons of juice in my mouth, even though I'm following his directions. I don't know if this is an inherent problem with the refillable things that come with the blucigs (after a few pulls it stops doing this, but by that point I've sucked almost all the juice out and have to refill it after a few pulls), or if I'm just doing it entirely wrong.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Is there some sort of 3rd party refillable solution, or should I grab a different ecig? I've been reading around on the forums and some people say that the eGo is the best choice, and while I'm alright with having something that doesn't look like a traditional cigarette, I would like to keep my blucig for when I'm at the bars or out with my friends as the pack is very easy to keep with me and the batteries are incredibly easy to recharge on the go.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

I havent seen the blue e cig but I am guessing its a two piece so it has a battery and a cartridge

but when I try to refill my own I get tons of juice in my mouth

this occurs when you overfill it. you will notice there is a tiny hole at the end of the cartridge, after filling the cartridge up, blow out the excess so that you can see through the tiny hole, look through the bigger end to ensure the vapour has a empty path to follow.

Is there some sort of 3rd party refillable solution,

there is no 3rd party solution I am aware of, its just a learning process but its not that hard to learn, 1 - 2 times and you will get it however as I do not know the type of e-cigarette you are using it could just be that its not a good one hence all the problems.

or should I grab a different ecig?

If you want to go , grab a ego or riva 510 starter kit, they are easy and simple to use, excellent battery life (i.e. 10 - 12 hours before recharging) and will put you on the right path for sure

Both ego and riva cigarettes are easily portable, to take into bars / club / resturants / aeroplanes etc just get yaself a little tin to place a bottle of liquid some kitchen paper and maybe a paper clip. My ecig is always in my top pocket or in my hands its rarely packed a way.

On a seperate note, the more commerical ecigarettes are a nusiance and annoying they just look good so you buy them on impulse. The majority of retailers are unsure and unaware of how the market will go so they just put any old crap on their cigarette counters. They have crap battery life i.e. 20 - 30 mins and the refill cartridge prices although cheap when compared to the price of analogue cigarettes are where these companies make their money.

1 good starter kit, a pack of empty cartridges and a few different flavours of eliquid will save you alot more cash in the longer run and will provide you with alot more peace of mind for example you will not have to constantly worry about the battery running out whilst you are on the go or having to buy cartridges that after 10 - 12 puffs lose their flavour so have to carry a life times supply on you.

Hope that helps

Are you using the old Blu? The one with atomizer and cartridge? (yes - atomizer carts can dump their contents in your mouth) Or the new Blu with cartomizers (screw on flavor carts)? I recommend if you want to stick with Blue then get your 5 non-spammed posts or replies in new members then an hour later you should be able to post in the Blu section of ECF

OR - Try a Vapor4Life manual or a SmokelessImage Volt manual (only some of their colors have manuals available)

The most popular 2-piece w/ prefilled cartos and blank cartos available. Plus you can top off the prefills with liquid and get at least several days use out of each. Thin clear juices give me the best reuse out of cartos. (like 20% VG or less, light colors)

Those should have a bigger hit and longer charge life than Blu. Manuals are much safer from being damaged or killed by the occasional small carto leak. Manuals make it easier to get a good hit.

I am not sure the construction of the Blu cartridges but if there is a center hole and you get juice down it this will happen. Sometimes putting something like a toothpick in the hole while you are refilling can help to prevent juice from getting in there. You also should rotate several cartridges so that when you top one off it can sit for 20 30 min to allow the filling to fully absorb the juice.

Also keep in mind that the cartos do not last forever. Usually somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks depending on your vaping habits and less if abused by sucking until they taste burnt. At some point the filler begins to loose it ability to wick properly and you need to discard it for a new one.

I believe that Blu uses a 510 thread in which case you should look into some Boge SR blank cartos if you don't want to keep buying theirs.

There is a whole Blu section and info about cartos there

Sounds like overfilling. I'd recommend filling the carto/cartridge over a paper towel. I add a few drops at a time and tap it a few times on the table and repeat until i see a tiny drop come out onto the paper towel. I then blow through the carto (mouth on mouth side), a small amount of juice will spray onto the paper towel. I then wipe off the connector end and its good to go.

I started with cig lookalikes (kr808d-1). Upgraded to a Riva and never looked back. I recommend the Riva 510 kit from E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings its $30 after clicking the 20% discount in the top left. Pickup a 15 pack of Boge LR (2.0 ohm) cartos at crystalclearvaping.com for $20 (free shipping). This setup will blow the blu cig away.

I really appreciate all the helpful feedback!

I think I may not be using a cartomizer - I looked around on some of the other forums and found a video guide and the things he's filling are very different from the things that came with my blus. It's kind of a moot point though - I took a look at that Riva 510 kit and it seems like pretty much exactly what I want - it doesn't look too bulky either, so it won't be a problem for taking around with me. I also have enough of their prefilled cartridges to last me until the Riva gets here, so refilling shouldn't be an issue.

Again, I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me!

I think that you'll be very happy with the Riva. That was my first kit and it unexpectedly got me to quit smoking. It'll fit in the palm of my hand and I have little hands, last 6-8 hours between charges and I've had the same two batteries for 10 months now. They're just now getting to the point where I need to think about replacing them for my fiance, since he's the one who uses them now. I'm trying to get him to buy the E-Power.

Maybe you are not overfilling but unproperly refilling the cartridge, i started with a M401 kit, and when i refilled the cartridges the same happened to me, i learned i had to take out the polyfill inside the cartridge, put some drops in there and then put the polyfill inside the cartridge.

Some cartrdges have a lot of polyfill inside, so i cut off some an then put back to the cartridge.

Congrats on the Riva I'm sure you will be very happy with the upgrade.

Sounds like you have the old style with an atty and carts. A little trick I figured out yesterday is if the polyfil is a little singed or not wicking well pull it out and put it back in upside down. This will put some fresh poly against the wick.

    in a cave, eh?
You might like dripping. Just get a 510 drip tip and put it over your Blu atomizer instead of the cartridge. Drip 3 drops at a time through the atomizer, and when the taste starts to wane, repeat. Slightly less convenient would be popping a blank cartridge (one that came with no filler) over the atomizer you just dripped directly into.

If you have any questions about filling cartomizers on your new Riva, don't hesitate to ask. :)

I do have to say that in general my S51 carts sucked as they only held about 3 drops to begin with and the flavor wasn't that great. A couple of days ago for the hell of it I debridged the 2 attys I had from the kit and Wow. Will be even better once I finish cleaning them today I'm sure. I had tried dripping them before but the debridging really made a difference with these.

I took one of the carts, removed the filler and opened up the hole a bit for a DIY drip tip.

^ If you have a few extra atomizers going, you can try modifying your atomizers. There are YouTube videos for dewicking and debridging your atomizers. You can regard this stuff as advanced and totally optional. :)

The previous poster has turned one of his cartridges into a drip tip. When I get a new atomizer, I get a blank cartridge (no white filler in it). You could also you use that as a mouthpiece for dripping. Dripping is also totally optional.

    Does this help?
