I literally have no (modded) idea what people are talking about when they're reviewing the batteries or the "juice" or this or that. Like the Indoor Smoker guy on youtube. Lol Wtf? So confusing...instantaneously lost.

Apparently people mix and like match different companies' gear to their liking? You can do that?

All I want is the best menthol vape on the market, the safest, the highest quality. I've read Halo is good. I don't want to spend a fortune. It'd be nice if I spent LESS than I was with real cigarettes. I'd been smoking 1/3 a pack a day of Natural American Spirit menthols for a year and a half now (smoked half a pack of Mavericks before for 3 years),and it's been 4 days off. I quit 2 months ago for a period of 3 weeks, but had to go back, it was killing me.

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it. I'm a complete newbie to this, so any advice needs to be spelled out SLOWLY. I know nothing about kits, battery life, quality control, nicotine strength, etc. Also, I LOVE smoking, but if vapors have the potential to be bad for your lungs too (I've read they can give you pneumonia), then please tell me lol.

Oh and btw, I really don't have the patience to have to try out multiple companies/supplies b/c of money reasons obviously. Perhaps way down the line. I don't mind splurging a bit right now if I can get a product(s) that simulates as closely as possible to real cigarette smoking with a nice buzz to go along with it. Integrity of product and health safety are my chief concerns...

Hello and welcome to the forum @birdfor3. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

These blogs are a few years old so they don't represent some of the "starter kits" many of us recommend today but they are a good place to start to understand e-cigarettes in general.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

Hi and Welcome,
Where are you located? If you have a "shop" in the area, a visit is a great idea.
When and how do you smoke? Do you want something the size of a VHS tape or does it need to be "just like" a cigarette?

The health benefits of stopping smoking far out weigh any potential risk(s) that vaping poses. (IMRHO)

Cheers

Thanks for answering man.

Lol, so, I'm way up in the Adirondacks. The only "shop' near me sells like Blu and a couple other mainstream vapes.

Don't know what you mean by "when" (whenever I feel like?), how? I mean, I smoke normal I guess? I want something the size of a normal damn cigarette lol! Size of a vhs? Now you're just screwing with me, not cool, not ok. I know they don't come that big, c'mon now.

I pretty much spelled out what I want in the OP. I assume most gear I'd get would be online anyways.

If you could give me your personal opinion that'd be great, because I don't quite have the patience right now to sift through dozens of pages of material. I did as much background reading into this as I'm willing to already. I've seen some vids too. I'd obviously rather avoid having to smoke altogether, but I love it too damn much.

I just want something that simulates the experience a menthol cigarette, good drags, but most importantly high quality, pure, tested stuff.

P.S. BRIEFLY looked at that guys blogs or w/e. Jesus mother mary and joseph that Provari setup is EXPENSIVE. Almost 200 bucks! Yea, no way in hell could I or would I allow myself to spend that much on a single purchase. I'm looking for quality and purity, not Iron Man level tactical space-agery though.

I would try Mt. Baker Vapor. They have a variety of different starter kits, and you can get extra coils and eliquid from them at the same time.

Depending on what equipment you decide to get, you will want to have 2 batteries - one to charge and one to use. You will also want a couple of extra packs of coils. I would also recommend a glass tank, such as the Protank 2 Mini or Evod Glass. There are some eliquids known as "tank crackers" which can destroy plastic tanks.

My daughter and I really like our Kanger Evod setups. They are reasonably priced, and, depending on where you get them, come with everything you need to start vaping except eliquid and extra coils. Mt. Baker Vapor includes a 15 ml bottle of eliquid with their starter kits.

Happy hunting, and welcome to ECF. You will soon get the hang of the terminology. Vaping is what has kept my daughter and me as ex-smokers. We both quit cold turkey around 9 years ago. We started vaping around 3 years ago, when stress and cravings got to be too much for us. We have not even thought about smoking since we discovered vaping.

gracias for the reply. very sweet of you.

some links would've been more helpful though. sometimes you probably forget even when mentioning the terminology you're still leaving me a bit confused b/c you know stuff I don't yet.

is mt. baker a company? also what's a kanger evod? I'm not stupid (high IQ actually) it's just this whole process is rather taxing on me, and complex. And a veteran to the subject would be helpful. I thought vaping would be a helluva lot simpler than this. I don't mind learning though. Even if I have to order multiple parts for different companies that's fine.

hi @birdfor3 and welcome to the forum. I really liked to smoke but I love to vape even more. Having the proper equipment and a juice you enjoy makes all the difference in the world. My "game changer" tank was the Aspire Nautilus Mini. It was the use of this tank that made me "know" I was defeating the craving of the cigs. I would also recommend the eLeaf iStick 30 W for ease of use, power, and history. The Nautilus paired with a nice mod gives a great vape and will be as close to a cig as you can get in vape.

I'd also suggest E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes Online | E Juice - Mt Baker Vapor <--click the link. You can find both my recommendations there and a nice selection of juices, all at a reasonable price. Good luck in your journey.

Good advice from Glo,

The 510 style is not known for efficiency nor longevity.
The "ego" style is about the size of a "sharpie" marker.

Limiting your search to a "cigarette style" can be VERY expensive and unproductive.

The kit I would suggest for you is the Joytech Ego one mini @1Ω and some Halo Kringles curse at about 6mg/ml.

Have fun

Mt. Baker Vapor is a registered supplier here on ECF. They sell hardware, accessories, and eliquids. Reasonable prices, good customer service, good turnaround time on orders.

Kanger Evod is a vaping system, consisting of a battery and tank (the part you put your eliquid in). The tanks that come with the starter kits are plastic, which is why I recommend that you also get a pyrex or glass tank. The batteries come in a variety of sizes. My daughter and I use the basic 650 mah batteries that came with our kits. I am retired and home all day. Depending on stress levels, I switch out my batteries 1 to 2 times a day.

Since my daughter and I had already quit cigarettes 6 years before we started vaping, these serve our needs quite well. I am sure that others will be along shortly with other recommendations for equipment that works for them. A lot depends on how you perceive the equipment that you get, and the eliquids that you try.

thank you kindly sir. lol.

I heard of this nautilus before. from none other than that Indoor Smoker guy on youtube. You wouldn't happen to be him now would you? ;.

No but seriously thank you for posting. I will look into those things. What do you mean by a nice "mod" though?

Well for starters I never "limited" myself to ANYTHING. I viewed several popular options and they all are "pen" style aka cigarette shaped. Obviously I'd like something that is similar in size to a cigarette. Sharpy, pen, straw, whatever. I don't want a {MODERATED} if that's what you're getting at. Something I can commute with.

I will look into your suggestion.
Btw, Halo Kringles curse? What in Jesus' holy name is that? You hexing me?

Nautilus and Istick 30w would of been my usual recommendation but I think the Subox starter kit tops that now, something for everyone, looks good, good value and vapes great.. You have your coils for mouth to lung and your coils for lung hitting. Just a fantastic starter kit and a great way to stop smoking.

I'm not him. I have 4 of the Nautilus and love them. "nice" -dependable, well built, at least 30 watts (gives you room to grow into sub ohms with just the purchase of a tank). The iStick line of mods (batteries) are the very user friendly, and the 30W is time tested.

haha no silly. I quoted what my inquiry was about. What in the hell is a "mod". I know what you implied by nice obviously. I've seen this expression thrown around. Is this where you swap out parts?

A "mod" is the term used to describe the part that either houses, or is battery for the device. Some "mods" have built in batteries which can't be changed. You just charge the device itself. The benefit of this type is that it is all a self contained unit. When you buy it, you don't have to worry about buying batteries or a charger. Others allow you to replace the battery or batteries. These have the advantage of being able to have multiple batteries charged at one time, meaning you can just swap the dead ones out for fresh ones at any time. Also, the device can still be used if one of your batteries goes bad.

Could you explain what you mean about coils, and this whole situation as far as lung hitting. You don't HAVE to link to this Subox, I can google, but that would've been helpful.

Outta curiosity - why do you think in detail Subox is a better starter kit than the Nautilus and Istick?
