I was a smoker for 30+ years - a pack a day for about 20 of those years - he's well aware of the evils of smoking cigarettes vs the lesser evil of vaping. Sat down had a talk with him - walked to my Vape stash and long story short - he is now the proud owner of a sig75 watt tc mod + a UD Zephyrus v1 rta + a set of 25r's

I also found a pack of ciggs in my daughters car last year, she was only 17. I converted her immediately to a sigeli and taifun gts, we have been succesful for the past year in not finding anymore ciggies in her car, mission accomplished. Congratulations on getting your kid off cigs.

If you were a previous smoker, couldn't you smell it on your daughter?..

Then why are so many people here telling people that never smoked to not start vaping
Being a non smoker who vapes, I totally agree with you- I have been vaping for almost a year and *had* smoked before, but knew I didn't want to become a smoker- I hate the smell and taste, and smoking is pretty much the worst thing you can do to your body. I vape 6mg nicotine 90% of the time, and even though I never made a habit of smoking, to be completely honest there is times I want one- yes I have given in and then don't want another one for weeks or months. If I want one I'll have it but after I'm like... Why did I want that? GROSS. If I really want one I vape higher nicotine 12-18 mg, if I have any, and get over it. I love vaping and have no plans of quitting, even though it's probably not the healthiest habit to have, there are far worse habits out there! If I had kids and I thought they were even mildly interested in smoking (at least 15-16 years old though) I'd offer them a vape. Rather have them get hooked on vaping than smoking cigarettes! My parents are (now) both ex smokers that vape and they always told me never to start smoking, and of course I had to experiment... But they never knew... When I told them I vape they pretty much accepted it, I think because they knew I could be smoking instead. So by all means, if someone is interested in vaping, let them vape!

glad you're a level headed parent right on brother!

hopefully he's working and can afford the juices though i wouldn't share my juice lol
this was a talk i had with him when I found out not to long ago that he smoked cigarettes - i told him soon as he gets a job (which he did - another plus!) he would get the hardware + plus some 60 mils zero nic juice i had around and it would be up to him to take care of his habits -- i also pointed him to some decent vape shops here in vegas that have decent prices (14 bucks for a 100 ml bottle) -- and yes - I am NOT sharing my juice with him! I'll rebuild/rewick his coils but NO - you can't have my juice - lol... and stay away from my married 25rs! :)

the young will always be curious - they will try anything and everything - i am just happy that he is not doing the crazy thing we/I did in my youth - i grew up in San Francisco in the 70's and 80's - nuff said about those times - why have him vape nicotine when all he really wants to do is pass the time and do vape tricks or keep him self entertained... i've heard that a lot of ex smokers who now vape want to transition to zero nicotine... so hey - I even showed him the bottle of glycerin from the drug store that produces crazy crazy clouds... no need to get him "hooked" to nicotine since he is not hooked to it like the people who have been a pack of cigarettes a day habit...
do you recall how you first picked up the habit of smoking? (and you know how hard it is to quit smoking) the friends would get together pass a smoke around and the cycle begins... but i can go on.... and get further of tangent...let me just say I am happier him picking the habit of vaping vs picking smoking cigarettes

If he already smokes cigarettes, why zero nicotine? I mean, if he is trying to quit, replace the nicotine in cigarettes with nicotine in vaping... I don't even smoke (but I have) and I use nicotine. I don't see it as an issue.

Everyone in this thread needs to watch the episodes of why they hate vapers so much, posted somewhere here in the forums. Especially the second episode that explains nicotine by itself(not in tobacco) is most like not the addictive factor in smoking. I vape because I couldn't give up the nicotine, not because I was addicted but because since high school(20 yrs ago) I have used it to treat my ADD instead of the more powerful prescriptions the had for it. By itself it has the same effects as caffeine, it has the horrible stigma because it has always been attached to tobacco. I don't encourage the use of nicotine but we need to fight this image of it being some dangerous demon drug that it isn't when it isn't in tobacco.

oh you're in vegas okay so stuff is relatively cheap there i'd assume and minimum wage is pretty decent there aswell from what i remember or guess prob just a bit hectic...i'm from LA i go to vegas for winter/summer every year. my bro actually bought like a MANSION there for like 300k lol? thats like a ghetto house in LA lol thats crazy....

anyways once again i'm glad you're level headed if more parents were like you and thought rationally first before acting on impulse alot of kids would of grown into something better. i know alot of kids that just go outta their way to just piss off their parents if you were my dad i'd be hella happy to be around you!

and i wouldn't even do his coil's/wick i'd atmost show him once or twice after that i'd tell him youtube is better...people tend to get comfortable when someone does it for them.

keep up the good parenting in my eyes a good parent is someone who doesn't restrict severely but has control over the environment in a rational way which is exactly how you handled the situation. Bravo!
