I would HIGHLY recommend The Vapor Room. Great flavors, fantastic service and prices, quick and inexpensive shipping, plus a free 15ml with first purchase and always a free 3 ml with every order, so you can try a flavor at no charge.
15ml is $10 bucks 30ml is $17. plus weekly deals sampler packs etc.
My first choice. Backwoods Brew is my second.

I like The Vapor Room as well. I've only ever ordered the flavors that are on sale for $10 (30mL). I don't know if their juices have the "bleh" or have "it" that some people are picking up on, but I don't get anything weird from them (of course, I haven't sensed this in any juice from any vendor.) :D

Okay, so I've done a little research on some flavoring additives that may be an ingredient is some ejuices. I'm not sure if any of these are the culprit or not, but maybe this will help those experiencing an "off" taste in various vendor's juices:

Levulinic acid-- Description
Acetyl Pyrazine-- Description
Koolada-- Description
Acetyl Valeryl-- Description
Ethyl Maltol--Description

Great work, the nutty ones are most suspicious to me

I can rule out Ethyl Maltol because I know its in a few that don't have the smell/taste. It will be interesting if this ends up being a flavoring thing and not a nicotine extraction or base thing (Dekang vs. US vs. possibly India).

I ordered some DIY flavors with carmel and nutty flavors today to see if I can smell it in them.

I know how disappointing it is to do a first large order from a vendor and be disappointed in ALL the juices. That happened to me about 3 weeks ago. I ordered 5 new juices all 15ml. Every single one of them had the same unpleasant (to me), underlying taste. One of them was so bad I couldn't even look at the bottle and had to hide it (it's still hidden). Anyway, after about 2 weeks, I figured I had to try to vape them because I spent money on them. After steeping, 4 of them are now vapable and one I might reorder. As I said, the other is still hidden, but I might get brave and drip a bit. I guess my point is to not give up on them. They might become vapable and it won't be an entire waste of money.

I think the Ethyl Maltol may be it!

Yup, that sounds like the ICK factor. I have found that it seems to decrease with steeping, so I think most of my juices will become vapeable with time. But it is disappointing to get half a dozen new samples in the mail from a vendor that everyone raves about and all of them taste awful. I think it's a nic base thing, because I find that every flavor I've tried from certain vendors have ICK, and from other vendors I've tried a dozen different flavors and none of them do.

I've had this ick experience too the strongest i've tasted it is in bavarian creme. Almost pure gagging ICK. I've gotten it from several different vendors in cappuccino, chocolate mint, cinnamon red hots while from other vendors with the same flavors not. I think it's a sweetner of some sort prehaps meant to imitate creamy lavors (the buttery popcorn smell is sort of similar to my ICK. I wish there were one ICK and we could figure it out but at this distance i doubt we could all agree what the ICK is but some juices have it and they make me gag. It's true it decreases in some over time. I am hoping my cappucino is coming around but i'm literally afraid to open it. It's interesting how emotional it is--i can relate to the person who hid one. I put the icks in sealed plastic bags. if i don't they ooze ick right into the room. another all time low Mrs t's bacon and waffles or something like that. ICK YICK!

I think I found my "IT" taste. I mixed up some blueberry juice last night in my usual base and all I could taste was IT. I added more flavor and :p still IT. Then I looked at my blueberry candy flavoring and instead of PG the liquid part of the ingredients is Triacetin. This is the only time I have tasted IT in one of my own mixes and that is the only difference.

That's my ICK too. I described it as a cooking oil smell/taste. Could be a sweetener of some sort. My worse flavors were rice pudding and cheese cake. I received the cheese cake as a sample, so there was no money loss there. Cheese cake is out of site with the rice pudding.

Thats for sure! Seems I smelled it for HOURS.

I have found several vendors that I use and you might try them too if you are looking for 10ml size e-juices and the juices are really good in my opinion Madvapes is really and low prices. another company is Bombay vaping. They are really good They offer 10ml samplers and also off extra flavoring at no extra cost. Everything I have tried from these guys so far is really good and they have great customer service I had some bottles that had leaked that got sent to me I contacted them and got an answer almost immediately apolizizing for the mishap and resent my entire order at their expense along with a bunch of freebies it is wroth trying these guys out and they are really reasonable

If anyone that is sensitive to this and has tried a strawberry flavor and been okay (or many fruit flavors), it's not ethyl maltol.

I love madvapes (the site), but 5 out of 5 of their Top Vapor juices that I've purchased have the smell/taste, so that brings me back to Dekang juices being first on my suspect list. If you aren't sensitive to this, you could smell two flavors from two different places (one that has IT and one that doesn't), and say they smell exactly the same, but the person who is sensitive to IT, would be gagging. That's how weird this is.

I have several creme flavors and one with carmel flavoring from Vapor Bomb and none of them have IT.

mummery, cigarettes have Triacetin, I think many flavorings do because they use it to dissolve flavor (but some might need more).

I have been searching for a new e-liquid vendor...looking for a place who offered 10 ml bottles and who were not real expensive....

I've had very good luck with Mad Vapes. I believe most of their 5 ml samples are $1.79, 10 ml bottles are reasonably priced, shipping is cheap and the flavors I've tried are great. If you like sweets, try Chocolate Fudge Bavarian Cream, Creme Brulee, Top Banana, Pineapple Upside Down Cake or Cheesecake with a few drops of their Blueberry or Strawberry. Quite tasty.

I haven't been paying too much attention to PG, VG or mix ratios but what I have found is that there are some flavors, particularly "citrus" or "tangy" ones that end up affecting the taste of everything else if vaped too much or at high nic levels. I hadn't thought about it as "metallic" but that's a good word for it. It's happened with some soda flavors (sharply flavored to emulate carbonation?), tangerine, bananna (though it takes much longer than the others). It also occurs with a couple of really strong coffee juices, though the effect is masked a bit by the coffee. And as others have said, it might be other ingredients in the flavors rather than just the "flavor" itself.

There are lots of sources and choices out there though, so good luck finding the perfect vape!

Triacetin--(organic chemistry) C3H5(CO2CH3)3 A colorless, combustible oil with a bitter taste and a fatty aroma; found in cod liver and butter; soluble in alcohol and ether, slightly soluble in water; boils at 259°C; used in plasticizers, perfumery, cosmetics, and external medicine and as a solvent and food additive (From Answers.com)

It looks like a good candidate. I wonder if some manufacturers use it as a solvent in extracting nic.

+2 on the buttery popcorn smell/taste. I get that from some vanillas, from many cappucino/lattes and from cheesecakes. The same ICK sensation as when someone in the office burns the butter-flavored popcorn in the microwave.

Curious thread! Thanks Curvychic for sharing this info. Gives new meaning to "dont drink the koolada"...:) Personally I like referring to it as "IT" as in 'intolerable taste'...

I wonder if there are any food chemist's on ECF...hmmm
