<<<HUGS>>> Anita :) I swear, I mean it - I am ridiculous enough to try it! However, by that time, I hope to have converted my whole family and all of my friends to V4L so they would probably only toss in the powered PT's and I think I will need an auto, don't you? :p

Morandir, I haven't a clue how much he smokes or even what...but I'll ask him or his father (my brother). He was one of the first of the forces into Iraq and was part of that horror at the airport (plus other places too dreadful to mention) and suffered an injury rappelling from a helicopter so he's got a couple of problems but he married the absolute love of his life and has a beautiful young son so I want him to have as much of a clean start at life as he can have under those circumstances. I'll let you know what I find out and thanks for your help!

I would say the best approach is the honest one. Tell him you found something that's smoking but way better. You though of him and wanted to see if he would like it too. If you think he will take offense to the health part make that more of an after thought. Just treat it as something you love and as a smoker something he might like too.

Also do thank him for what he did for us. I was all set for military service, ROTC for high school and college, rifle team, took all their test was rated for military intel. Got all the way up to getting signed up and they found my heart condition was too high a risk for any form of military service(actually payed for 3 specialist to check me out). Worst of all it's correctable, but the surgery to correct it has 3 times a higher fatality rate then the condition does. I have the highest respect for those who go out there and do what I could not. Give him a full salute from me.

+1 on Who's approach! 18 mg is a great place to start for a lot of people, but 8 mg would probably be better if he's smoking ultra lights. I always include a coffee sampler with a kit for a new person. If you don't live near him there are some great YouTube videos that will help him get started. I got started just looking to get something to "fill in" for when I couldn't smoke.

I am getting ready to buy another kit for a hopeful convert, my nephew :) I can afford it and he can't so why not? Not to be ghoulish (but there's no way to make it sound anything but morbid), but it's cheaper than flowers for a funeral and, unlike my only nephew, has no emotional attachment...it's just another start-up kit given to a deserving home! My problem is how to approach him so he won't take offense at the gift. It was easier with the others I gave kits to because I had more daily contact with them and they are now happily vaping away! Oh, and how do I judge what nicotine level cartos to include?

Kanza (who lives in our Vaping Mecca!) If he can afford cigarettes....but I digress, ghoulish - no, it's the truth! You want the smokers you love to be alive for a longer period of time (or at least not die due to analogs) and life's already short. Vaping is the gift of life.

The approach from a Vaper to a smoker/convert will vary depending on the smokers' personality. You certainly know this person and I hope he expressed some interest in Vaping (not trying to be a Debbie-downer) or it will be tough.

I've used different approaches with different converts and some have back-fired. I can be so overzealous (but I am trying to quit lol), I have had to state many times, "and I'm not making money off of this either, it's good hardware and a company I trust".

I think the longer you have been a Vaper, the more credibility you have, especially with those you come in contact with on a regular basis. They see that it's no fad, not a gimmick and they saw you smoke for years and years and stop easily. Those are the easiest converts I think.

Cost is an obstacle for some and I am working on a making my own little starter to loan out. I think what you are doing is great. Get them to like it first!
:)

I vote for Nuport. I don't vape it but it got my Sister off the analogs, and she smoked Newport. I was the one that picked it (placed her initial order) and had my fingers crossed that it would be "the one". I was very lucky it was love at first vape with her.

Exactly the right approach. (No wonder you rated for Intel work, Who!)
