So Frustrated right now---

I'm sitting here, back to smoking analogs because of problems with my atty. I did order some cartomizers, but have been stalking the mailman while waiting for them to get here (ordered on Saturday night, and they still aren't here yet!!!!) and hoping that will help with my problems.

I'm getting tired of vaping 3-4 drags and then having to add more liquid to the cart, and then to add insult to injury, the atty keeps "overheating", as in, it will get too hot to hold. The other atty is dead. I tried to use the ressurection method that I found on the board, but it didn't help. And now I'm scared to clean the only working atty that I have. I have to wait a bit before I can order an eGo, since money is very tight around here. I tried some of the mods, but that causes frustrations on its own. Just can't seem to get them to work. And before anyone asks, I'm currently using the 510 pt kit from cignot.

And speaking of the eGos, one small question. Because of the tight budget here, I'm thinking of getting the pt version of the eGo. If I get any of the extra batteries, will they have the same setup on the end of them like the pt version, or will I have to get a charging system like the 510?

I know once I find the vaping system I can handle, then I can start the search for the perfect liquid to vape.

Currently vaping on a 510pt with a ce2 r4 xl carto. So far I've used one carto for over 2 weeks without any problems, and with a box of 5 I'm not messing with atty's. They do hold a lot of juice. The pt ego looks nice, but in a kit you get two batteries and a pt version seem like a little over kill to me. And when the battery quites, your pt will be gone.

The ego uses a 510 atty and cart. I don't think a new system will change much. It's hard for me to tell exactly what's causing your problems from the description but here are a few guesses:

Atty's do get hot, but if you can't touch it, you may not be giving your 510 enough time between draws to recover. Slow down a bit. If you think you are vaping faster than you smoked and are not feeling satisfied, you may want to try higher nic juice.

The overheating may also mean you aren't keeping your atty wet enough, though 3 or 4 drags before adding liquid should not cause problems. Make sure your wicking material hasn’t been pushed too far into the cart. It needs to contact the bridge. Also, Instead of dripping in the cart, try dripping directly on the atty. Start with 2 or 3 drops and give it a little time before that first drag.

The cartomizers might work better for you. I'm not a carto person, but I've read they need recovery time between drags as well. If you are vaping too fast, you might burn the filler of the carto and I believe that's harder to deal with then a dry atty. Carto users please provide your insight here 'cause I don't use em.

It took some time and effort to get my e-cigs working right and I've still got lots to learn. It does get easier with experience. Good luck and hang in there.

Yeah, it's a catch-22 with the atties/performance/cleaning thing. If they get gunked-up, they don't perform as well. You pull on them more to compensate, they overheat, they still don't vaporize the juice properly, they gunk-up even more... cycle repeats.

Try a safe clean on your last atty, since you have already stepped back to analogs for a bit anyway.

Water or ISO alcohol will probably clean it without damage. Just be sure to blow it out real well when done.

I'd avoid dry burns on my last working atty if at all possible. That technique takes some practice.

As for the other (dead) atty, does it heat/sizzzle at all? Do you, by chance, have a multimeter around to test it?

Good luck with the new supplies.

I have the same set up as you and I went through my share of attys, constantly blowing them out due to always flooding. I read a thread on here somewhere that talks about cutting the filler in your cart to about 1/3 the length, just enough to make a plug at the top, so you can hold more liquid. Basically, you cut the filler down, fill your cart with liquid to almost the top and then put in the plug at the top. I tried this and let me tell you, it was such a headache saver! I was constantly adding more to my cart every few minutes but with this, a cart lasts me an hour, give or take on how much I'm using it and I am able to vape the filler dry. I don't get flooding (well, depending on the juice. I have some very watery liquid that floods no matter what I do) and I don't get juice in my mouth.

My joye atomizers get really hot, too and I have to pace myself between vapes. I have some off-brand attys that don't get nearly as hot and seem to work just as well. I noticed that isn't as bad since I switched my filler method. I think they were getting hotter because I was flooding them out and trying to vape through it so much.

You'll find the right solution..
I don't think anything can beat what I am spending for my e-smoking
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-sister-brother-law-cartos-atomizers.html

Nothing... $1/pack cheap mini cigars, roll your owns ..
I've got $40 in two Hello016 batteries and another $30 in atomizers and about $50 in e-juice (since I make my own) and that $120 has supplied me for WELL OVER TWO FULL MONTHS vaping like a freight train... I buy 510 atomizers and LR306 atomizers

There have been some odds and ends and trading back and forth with my sister.. and I bought cartomizers and drip tips

Ok, my cartomizers just arrived in the mail, and I'm liking them already. I know that in the long run, I will be saving money. Just right now, what little I'm saving not buying analogs is going into something else that just came up.

Thanks for the replies. I really want this to work, and now it's looking like cartomizers are just what I need.
