So, my husband decided to try this, too

He quit smoking cigarettes 2 years ago and hasn't smoked at all. However, he continuously snacks now, and has put on a LOT of weight. He has been watching me with my new obsession for about a week and asked me to order some 0-nic juice for him so he could give it a try, which I did.

Well. He likes it. He says it keeps him from snacking, too.

I feel mixed about it. I'm not sure if this is a very backwards step for him, or if it is a step forward.

One of the reasons I decided to take up e-smoking was to stop torturing him with my cigarettes. After being quit for two years he found the smell of cigarettes disgusting. I was somewhat surprised that he looked upon e-smoking as interesting and attractive. I realize now, that the appeal is on two fronts, he gets to "smoke" again, but he is also a real gadget lover.

What are your thoughts about this? This isn't something I foresaw at all.

I think its good, after all it is just vapor and no nicotine and if it gets him to snack less (assuming they are not healthy snacks) it might actually be better for his health.

Two points of view here. If I was off cigarettes for 2 years I wouldn’t want to go back to anything resembling smokes again. Don’t forget although I think digital is better then analog it probably isn’t the healthiest habit, a lot is unknown. I definitely would not start e-cigs to try to loose weight; it is just not worth it.

On the other hand, as smokers we know how strong the addiction is. A lot of people have quit for a year or two then went back to smoking for the rest of their lives. Two years smoke free is better then I have done. If he is going to back-up, so to speak, an e-cig is probably better then picking up a pack of smokes at the store (during a moment of weekness) because the whole habit will be back before he finishes the pack.
