Hey all, Buddy here. I am 44 years old and have smoked analogs since I was a teen, smoking at least a pack a day for over 25 years. My wife was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, went through chemo and radiation, and has a clear bill of health now. Needless to say, she quit smoking in 2005. She has constantly asked me to quit, and I have tried to quit before, with no good results. I would quit for a few days, then start back up, mostly due to boredom from the extra time I had on my hands. I had a very hard time with it....until now!!

My wife ordered the V4L Ultimate for me and it arrived in the mail on Monday, 22 February 2010. I am extremely pleased to say I have not touched an analog since that day, it has been 8 days today(a record for me)!! I have actually had a pack of 16 analogs in my coat pocket since my V4L arrived, and I have not touched one of them. I threw that pack of 16 away today, I do not need them anymore. When I feel the need to smoke, I vape. Nothing, I repeat....nothing has worked for me like this has.

Vapor 4 Life, Thank you....Thank You....THANK YOU!! I am finally SMOKE FREE!!!!!

Bud, you and your wife rock.

:)

My story?

Hmm. I'm less than 1 year shy of 50 years old and have been smoking for well over 30 of those years. I've also been unemployed for a good while so my smoking had increased to uncomfortable levels...25-30/day. Haven't really enjoyed it since about the time the FSC cigs came into Illinois and then Wisconsin.

Several months back a relative had one of these ecigs at a Christmas party. I was sick so I didn't try it but I asked him to send me a link to where he got it and he sent me to V4L.

Fast forward to about 4 weeks ago...I finally get around to researching and putting in an order and I find that V4L is actually not far from me. Well, I figured they are a growing company and as I was still jobless I dropped a hint in the forums and to make a short story even shorter.....the day after my kit arrived from V4L I got a call from Steve himself and started working for them the very next day!

Now I'm still new to this whole Vaping thing but I'm loving it. My cig habit went from 25-30/day to 3-5/day immediately without any problems and required absolutely no effort or willpower on my part. Amazing! It'll be 3 weeks tomorrow.

As far as working at V4L.....at this point I'm learning the ropes. Picking and Packing orders and that kind of thing. It is a great group of folks and Steve is a great guy to work for. We all stay fairly busy you can be certain!

I guess you could say that V4L has had a definite impact on me! Little did I know that ordering ecigs online could be so life changing.....

Not much of a story here... I started smoking at about 14 when my older sister started (at 16). I quit at 17 for about 6 months, but started again and have been smoking since. I had been skeptical about e-cigs ever since I heard of them, but a couple of my friends had tried them and gave me positive feedback. With all of the brands of e-cigs out there, it was a little overwhelming to make a decision on what to try. But after reading all of these posts in ECF and seeing other reviews, I decided to go with the VK.

And after going out with some of my friends tonight, about 5 of them were talking about switching from analogs by the end of the night. :D

I started smoking at 17, Marlboro and Camel for a while and then discovered Djarum cloves and smoked them exclusively for more than 20 years, until the govt. decided I should stop. I had been unsuccessful quitting with lozenges, gum, and patch over the years and wasn't sure what to do.
Luckily, a co-worker mentioned hearing about electronic cigarettes and I bought an NJOY. I wasn't happy with it from the start but found the forum and read a lot about the KR808d-1 so that was my 2nd purchase. I liked the ease of use, but not the flavors available.
Once I placed an order with V4L for extra batteries and cartos, I knew I had found the e-cig I would be happy with long term.
I read a lot more than I post but am so appreciative of the great information here. V4L has been wonderful with good products and customer service and all of you have inspired me with your ideas and encouragement - I've been smoke free since October 09.

Yea! Like kunstkammer wrote... I'm in Washington, State Of. Roughly $50 bucks a carton and climbing. My wife and I just can't keep doing $400 a month. My wife's friend gave us a V4L business card last week. Took me, gee... maybe a whole 10 minutes to decide to try e-cigs. I'm now on day 5. Haven't touched an analog. Another week, or so, we'll make an order for my wife, too.

I am 24. I have been a pack a day smoker since I was 17. I have tried quitting using the patch and cold turkey. I have tried the gum and lozenges but couldn't stomach those so one didn't last. My doc prescribed me chantix but after research i decided to not fill that. I really needed to quit as I found out that I had a serious snoring issue(no apena) and getting my deviated septum fixed did not help enough. It got better and I can breathe better but my snoring is still there to some extent. I found e-cigs when I was at the tobacco store and the guy was selling elecktro. I did research and here I am. No more snoring unless I drink then its there a little but not nearly as loud or frequent. Happy Vaping!!!

Good luck with waiting a whole week. We started with the idea of ordering every two weeks or so. We are now making orders before our last order has even arrived!

Your wife will love them. Enjoy!

Just wanted to pop in to let you all know how much I've enjoyed this forum today, especially your personal stories. Very inspiring for a new guy like me. I smoked Marlboro Lights, pack per day, for about 35 years. Always wanted to quit, but never worried too much about it for one lame reason or another. Did try to quit a couple of time, and using nicotine gum, I even managed to stop completely, very gradually, about five years ago. Lasted for a month, but I chewed so much nico-gum that my teeth hurt. Ran into ecigs and V4L just a week ago after a lot of online research. Ordered the VK and GreenSmoke products to compare for a week, and the GSs go back tomorrow. They do have a lot more vapor than the VKs, but everything else about the VKs wins for me... the website, variety, prices, build quality, and that nice family touch.

From my first hit of an ecig, four days ago, I haven't touched a Marlboro. Just started vaping whenever I'd typically grab a cig, and it's almost too easy for me. Yeah, the cig cravings come from time to time--and may get worse in the future--but vaping really does the trick for me. Covers the whole physical-emotional thing about smoking that I'd enjoyed and never found elsewhere before. What a fantastic idea, and V4L seems like a gem in the field. Couldn't be happier about my initial experience. I won't return to regular cigs, and for the first time in my life, I state this with absolute certainty. I'll return to update my progress once in a while, but mainly to keep being inspired by those of you who are a step or three ahead of me. Please keep it going! Cheers~

UPDATE... TWO MONTHS LATER

Haven't had a cig and still loving the vape. Here are my personal health improvements nine weeks into vaping exclusively...

* totally clear breathing, no more coughing
* greatly increased sense of taste and smell
* better sleep, with no more snoring (happy wife!)
* more energy, more time (no "smoke breaks" needed)
* and almost no more headaches! (a huge one for me after 30 years of almost daily headaches and painkillers)

Life-changing for me. And it just happens to be FUN. Good luck with your own journey--eventually, you might even get to quote yourself like I shamelessly did! ;-)

Hey Jeffree: I remember when you first posted; there's nothing shameless about quoting yourself, especially since an update like yours can be very helpful to newbs. I see a lot of impatience lately, people trying to instantly experience the rave positive impacts SOME of us have had, you and I for example. Everyone is not the same however, and for some it will take longer, or it might not be as great as it sounded. I am like you however, I was able to instantly quit and have had nothing but entirely positive side effects and excellent hardware performance. I had been vaping with a crap 4081 since Oct 09, and had cut down on analogs a lot, but the V4L VK's superior performance is what inspired me to join the forum and try to help others and spread the good word here. Semi-vaping since Oct 09, Exlusively vaping V4L since Jan 10 :)

I hope others will follow your lead and update their progress as you did; plus, this is a good thread to bump back up occasionally ;)

Thanks, Jam. And your own story helps me! I see that we went 'exclusive' just 5 days apart, so good luck to US!

Also agree about the issue of impatience. Man, I only know that vaping--for me--made the cig-quit thing so easy, even after 30 years of cigs, that I felt like I'd discovered the tonic for eternal youth. But even then, sure... breaking a long-time addiction required just a bit of sacrifice. No one should be surprised by that. Nothing much, though, in my case. Ah, but everyone's different.

I love coming to update here, and also to say that - at least in my experience - the process of vaping shifts and changes over time, as does my comfort level with it, and vaping in public.

In the last two months, I've had three analogs, all at a friend's house (her smokes). They didn't do a thing for me. I still have the intellectual craving for analogs but for some reason that doesn't transfer to me getting my wallet out of my pocket. ;)

The longer I vape, the more in love I find myself with the whole process. No more side effects of any kind. I drink lots of water to keep the throat hit soreness away. I've learned, thanks to the wonderful inventive folks here, to drip and spin. :thumb: It's fun! And I've actually braved vaping in public just recently - first in a bar, then in a movie theater, and last night in an Indian restaurant. For last night's outing, I was showing my friends how it worked and suddenly heard, "What's THAT?" and looked up and the waitress was standing there. She had heard me from across the room and came over to check it out - she left with a V4L card, without ever having to say she was a smoker. :D

I honestly don't know what I would have done had I not found V4L. I couldn't afford analogs before and now with taxes going up there would be no way and it would have to be cold turkey - not pretty, as most of us know.

I love hearing people's stories and all of our updates. And I'm hoping one day to finally convince my mother to do this. I'm tossing plenty of enthusiasm her way!

*I must say though, that with my taste buds back stronger than ever, food is tasting FANTASTIC and my waist is expanding a bit.

I am almost 41, started smoking at 12...For a few years now, I have thought about quitting, tried quitting, and eventually even started a step-down method to quit.
Last year, just before my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. a month after turning 40 I was under the knife to undergo a bi-lateral mastectomy....wasn't enough to take me over the edge to quit smoking.
In November, I was in to see my doc for a sinus infection. He says to me "let's see, you survived breast cancer, and you still smoke, end of lecture". I am allergic to latex...patches unusable, I've had seizures since I was a kid...chantix unusable, the gum sucks, so it's cold turkey WOW Way too hard to do!
A few months ago, my son was in the mall and tried an e-cig, he comes and tells me how amazing they are, but I don't want to spend 125.00 on a e-cig. Then I start hearing commercials on the radio, they want to GIVE away e-cigs! I start thinking to myself, this could be an alternative to other cessation devices I cannot use. I tell my boss I am seriously considering it.
I come home from work last week, and my neighbor (and friend) tells me she quit a week ago using e-cigs, and her boyfriend had quit a week prior. She lets me try hers...first time I've tried one, I was pleasantly surprised. I told her I was going to the mall the next day for one. A few minutes later, my son comes home with a V4L card. My neighbor's boyfriend says this is the place to go for a good product. I hit the site that night (Friday) and ordered my ultimate ultimatum kit.
On Monday I get my email saying the kit was sent, by Tuesday I can track my shipment, and BAM, it's already in my city.
At 5:00pm on Tuesday March 23, 2010 I smoked my last cigarette. As soon as I got home and opened my package, I was completely done smoking analogs. I haven't touch one, or even wanted to since that very first hit on the V4L.
It's amazing to me, that even after just 2 days, my sense of smell has improved, I'm coughing up the junky stuff from my lungs already, and I can feel the difference....after 29 years of smoking 1-1 1/2 packs a day!
This has been way too easy...but I also think the ease has something to do with the attitude with which I approached it...I was anticipatory and positive that it would work, and it surely has.

Great story msroulette, really glad you are here instead of trying to get your money back from the mall guy or get out of the "auto refill programs" you can easily get sucked into. Always keep in mind the moment of awakening, the point in time when you realized two things: 1. I am never going to smoke an analog again, and 2. I can still smoke! No matter what gets you down in the future, think back to the moment you discovered V4L. One last piece of advice though, NEVER RUN OUT OF JUICE!!!!

You are a survivor; good luck and welcome to the club :)

My mom smoked filterless Pallmalls my entire youth but I swore I'd never do it. Then college came along and to avoid becoming a complete wastoid, I took up clove cigarettes. Came home for winter break and mom said "smoke a damn real cigarette, that thing stinks!"... so I did. Waited until 20 years old to start.

Menthol was my weapon, just about a pack a day for 8 years. Didn't even quit for any of my 3 pregnancies (cut down to 3 cigs a day while pregnant though). I did eventually cut down quite a bit... when the doctor said "If you are only smoking 2 to 5 cigarettes a day, why not quit?"... my response was "because I LIKE it and I don't WANT to".

So, after smoking for over 20 years, my oldest (16yr daughter) bugged me to at least research the e-cig thing. My original research got me to buy a 510 starter kit. It was very good... 3 parts was a bit funky and the manual battery was odd to use as a newbie... but a family crisis had me buying a pack of analogs only 3 days into vaping.

My brother-in-law asked me to research something a little less complicated. He is an ex-smoker but was lighting up out of boredom for long drives for his work. Enter this V4L forum and all the stories and tips and praise for this company. I ordered for myself, got the order in literally 3 days (with surprise extra gifts!) and was HOOKED the very first day!

So here I am. I have ordered twice already... been vaping exclusively for 13 days now and have NO desire to buy analogs again. I am definitely vaping MORE than I was smoking... heard the novelty may wind down a bit over time...? I am sticking to low nic (some flavors at zero nic)... and I am learning from everyone here about longterm efficient use of the cartos... cleaning... refilling... Taryn-spinning! :) lol

Thanks so much to V4L and all the great people here! My kids are proud of me and I hope to be around a long time!
