Fiberweaver, I lost track of this thread. I sure don't mind if you use my story, probably too late, now, sorry about that, I hope you printed mine out even though I missed it. :)
I did print your story out. I can't go back now but someone had said this was a public forum and anything could be printed. So I did figuring it was to help others stop smoking those of you who didn't reply wouldn't beat me to death if you hadn't given your ok's. :nun:

It is so true that there is a pretty common thread to this...uh...thread. I was a 40+ year, 2+ pack a day smoker. I never even considered quitting. As one poster said "I figured I would die with a cigarette in my hand". My wife, while not quite as extreme a smoker as I was still a fairly heavy smoker in her own right.

One of my co-workers decided to go the e-cigarette route. He purchased a system that shall remain nameless and gave it a try. Within a couple of days, I could tell he was really struggling. All the nasty side-effects of nicotine withdrawal and then some. He tried two other products. Not much relief. He was on the verge of packing it in when he found the Vapor4Life products. He called on a Thursday saying that he wanted his supply for the weekend or frankly he didn't think he would make it. By happy circumstance, it turned out that one of the V4L guys lived relatively near to him and offered to hand deliver his order.

When I next saw my co-worker on Monday, he was calm and had the "true believer" look in his eye. He said that after trying numerous e-cigarettes, he found the Vapor King to be doing the job. He also related the story of the delivery.

After a couple of weeks, I said I was interested. He graciously offered a battery and a couple of carts for my wife and I to try. In our case, we knew that we both had to stop analogs together.

Well, we tried them and thought "Hey, we could do this".

Off I went to the Vapor4Life site. I bought the Ultimate Ultimatum package plus an extra PPC and some batteries.

Unbelievable. On a Friday afternoon the order arrived. We agreed that Friday midnight we would switch to the Vapor Kings. And...just...like...that, we did. I am a little over 3 weeks gone now. Haven't had but a couple of "moments" early on.

I enjoy vaping. The assortment of flavors has maybe caused me to spend a bit more than I wanted, but now we have settled down to a few favorites and we are starting to gain on the cost of analogs versus vaping.

Incredible products. Incredible customer service. Incredibly happy I went with Vapor 4 Life.

I've been smoking about 2 packs a day (Red, Medium, or whatever was on sale) for almost 18 years. After a small amount of research I ordered the Revolver Elite and managed to go smoke free for about 3 days before I picked up an analog again. I had various issues with that PV, but I could tell that it was my best shot at quitting so I opted to do even more research and ordered the VK. It arrived last weekend, and it has been a lot better than the Elite, though I still haven't completely quit analogs. Hoping that comes soon.

My story is a bit different in that I didn't look into e-cigs for quitting purposes. I looked into them because I was heading to a resort in Florida for a week and I knew I wouldn't be able to smoke in the room, which would have completely ruined my vacation. There was no way I was going to stumble out of my room with a cup of coffee every morning and head to some out-of-the-way corner of the resort, cowering under a sand castle just so I could smoke. :p So, I started doing my research and settled on the 510. Bad move. The 510 was not for me. Too much fussing. Then I found this subforum and ordered the VK. Best decision I ever made. I still smoke occasionally, but that will end soon, I think. :)

GREAT thread and I agree it should be stickied! Like JLeigh said, I only got into ecigs to be able to 'smoke' in my very anti-smoking workplace. Plus I like 'new' gadgets and thought it would be fun. Got my 510 and really liked it, at first. Was able to actually quit smoking because I liked vaping so much better. But then the novelty wore off and I became impatient with the dripping all the time.
Started reading the V4L forum, bought the ultimate kit, and yes mam I'm off the cigs!
Almost 40 years of at least a pack a day and i don't have any desire to ever light one up again. Still have 5 unopened packs in my house and am going to try to get a refund to buy more carts!:thumb:

Well, I started with e-cigs mostly to cut down the second hand smoke my bird, Mike was exposed to. I used to have another parrot, Jamie, a peach-faced lovebird. She died about 2 1/2 years ago and although she was about that age for a lovebird, I always wondered if she might have lived a couple years longer if not for all my smoke.

Besides, I was sick of all my clothes smelling like smoke, all the ash mess everywhere, etc, etc, etc.

So, when I finally determined to quit, but failed at my first cold-turkey attempt, I settled for trying to find another solution. I was actually searching for smokeless ashtrays and came across an e-cig on e-bay, and the rest is the history of an obsession! :D

Thanks for all your stories here! The phenomenal success stories here on this forum are what convinced me to get my VK. I got mine on Halloween and immediately went from between 2 and 2 1/2 packs a day to less than 1/2 pack. I am now at about 5-7 analogs a day and still looking for my "IT" flavor but I'm getting there. I was hoping if I got this now that I could possibly be ready to "quit" by New Year's but I don't think it is going to take anyway near that long. I haven't been stressing myself out and if I want an analog then I have a vape first and give it a few minutes but if I'm still thinking about it I go ahead and have one. This is pretty painless! I am so amazed at how easy it's getting. At first I went a little too low on the nic (8mg) but I upped it to 11 and it's better now. It felt like I might still be a little lower than the analogs, but I decided to let myself get used to the lower nic instead of upping it again. If that means having a few more analogs to get adjusted then so be it. After 40-50 smokes a day I think 5-7 is great after just 8 days of vaping! If you're thinking of giving this a try - stop thinking about it and just DO IT! I already feel so much better than I did a week ago!

Congrats on makin' the switch (in more ways than one as per this thread).

I absolutely LOVE my Leaford Lanyard (I did notice that the price went down just a couple days after I bought mine though :(). It seems that you will be a terrific part of the team at V4L!

Thanks, freshnwild, I'm very happy to be aboard! :D And I'm thrilled to hear you love my Lanyard! :D :D :D

Unless I missed it here, (in this thread), I'm the one who decided to quit to save money. And I'm succeeding, in spades. I was using 50-60 analogs a day and I'm down to 10-12.

Since my inhaling habits have changed so much, (couple vapes instead of a whole analog), the cost savings have been substantial. I do notice when I go to see a customer and they find that I'm on an E-Cig they comment on the fact that I don't smell of smoke any more.

Not constantly looking for an ashtray and carrying it everywhere I go when I'm in my office or relaxing at home, not trying to make certain I always a lighter that wouldn't fail just when I needed it the most, not burning yet another pair of slacks or a shirt are all pluses. Then there is that health thing.

Supposed to take a trip this month and it will be great to be able to vape in the rental car. Won't need to worry asbout finding a hotel with smoking rooms either, which is getting to be VERY difficult. Lots of benefits.

I have posted my story before and in more than one subforum on the ECF forum, but I'd like to tell it again here.

I am 59 years old and I had smoked 2+ packs/day for over 38 years. I had actually quit for a whole year once, but I started smoking again over some personal crisis (can't even remember now what that was).

I really wanted to quit -- I had some serious health issues (lupus, constant bronchitis, frequent respiratory infections, etc.), but frankly I was just really tired of all the smoking negatives. Forget feeling like a leper with the anti-smoking fanatics. For me it was being tired of the constant coughing, dirty ashtrays, smelling like an ashtry, the burns (furniture, clothes, my own body -- ouch!). Plus there was that feeling of having no control over my own mind and body. This addiction was powerful, and all the cessation methods failed me -- the patches, the gums, the lozenges, even the drugs. I had also tried hynosis, acupuncture, and therapy. Nothing worked.

Then one day last August, I stumbled across an e-cig video on YouTube. I think it was one of Leaford's reviews. I had never seen or even heard of an e-cig before. So I started doing my research and found the ECF forum.

After spending several days on this forum, I placed an order for a 901 kit. I got it, and boy was I disappointed in the flavor. It was a "generic" kit, and at the time I didn't know there were other flavors. I discovered the ejuices. Ordered several different flavors, and I was in heaven. I should mention that even though I hated the first cartridges I got, I stuck with it. Started vaping on September 1st and smoked my last analog on September 3rd.

After about 3 weeks into using the 901, I just got fed up with all the dripping, dropping, filling, etc., so I started researching this forum again. I ended up ordering an 808D-1 from another vendor (before I knew about V4L).

JenJen and JLeigh responded to a discussion in another thread about the virtues of a 2-piece over the 3-piece units for convenience. They ranted and raved about the wonderful flavors of the cartos, the great customer service and just overall quality of the products, so I came to this subforum. After reading all the great reviews, I placed an order for a PCC kit and a few boxes of cartos. By this time I had been smoke-free for about 3 weeks or so.

I received my order from V4L, and finally, I was enjoying the whole vaping experience. The cartos ended all my frustration. But I will always be grateful and remember the 901, because that was my first e-cig, and it got me off the analogs.

I have now been smoke-free for over 2 months. And I do not miss it at all.
