Hello ECF,

Been vaping for around 8 months, now. Started off with a pro-vari and cartos, moved onto RBA's about 4 months ago and am able to rebuild effectively and safely. I got a Reo a couple months back and have been using it strictly for micro coils. I recently picked up a nemesis and want to delve into the world that is sub ohm vaping. I have read tons of stuff about it as I want to be as safe as possible. I just am at a bit of a standstill on what batteries are the best out there for such a thing and a decent charger. I've seen some threads months back, but as the world of vaping changes everyday, would like some as recent as possible info. Trying to decide if I want to buy a few Panasonic NCR18650PD, or just the AW IMR 18650's 1600 Mah at RTD vapor. What's the difference in the high drain of the panasonics compared to the 1600 of the AW IMR's. Does it make much of a difference?

Also looking for a new charger in the 20-30 dollar range, willing to go up a little bit. But don't think it's needed as most decent chargers seem to be around that price.

I do have a mutli-meter of course and know how to measure coils safely, etc... Defientely not jumping into this blindly, as I value my Life and health and more importantly my mods =)

Please list some recomendations from you Sub-Ohm lords! Thanks!

depends, do you think you will come close to or pass the 10 amps the PD will put out?

if so the 1600's pack a heck of a punch over 5 amps and have one of the better voltage drop curves available in a high drain battery.

if you do go for the panny try to find the newer PF over the PD, it has a slightly reformulated discharge curve (and is the replacement for the PD SKU)

I like the PD(PF) in my .8 ohm rig and it lasts a long time for me. if i was considering going lower i would probably go back to the 1600AW.

I probablly won't go past the 10 amps, i'd say. Well I don't think so at least. I am thinking the ones from rtd are going to be good to start. Now just looking for a decent charger in my price range.

The lowest you can safely go with a 10 amp battery is 0.5 ohms. 0.4 is too low, and I would only go as low as 0.6 just to have more of a safety buffer. With a 30 amp batt, you can go down to 0.2 ohms but not 0.1 ohms, which is OK because that ridiculously low anyway. I wouldn't push any battery that hard because 0.5 ohms provides all the intensity I need, no reason to take the risk IMO. I have 22 amp batteries and enjoy the reduced voltage drop and increased longevity of not pushing them to their limits.

Xtar or nitecore chargers are known to be good and they are in your price range.

Ty for the info. Ya I won't be going any lower than .06 for sure. 1.2 my lowest coil i've done is pretty sweet, can't imagine what a .06 or .06 will be like. Im in for a treat.

Do NOT go anywhere even CLOSE to a 0.06 ohm coil with ANY battery. A 0.06 ohm coil on a fully charged battery pushes 70 amps.

You need to stay at 0.6 ohms or higher.

I like my sony 30 amps (US18650VTC4). Ive got 4 of them and there 2100 mah, they last a while on the .6 in my kayfun, dont last 2 long in the .2 on my helios. I have tried all the higher amp batts (Efest 30amp, Sanyo 20R, Samsung 20amp, Orbtronics 22amp, MNKE 30/60amp, Awimr 18650) and the sonys have been the best performers for what I like to do.

I meant .08 is what ill be shooting for, typo =( I appreciate the concerns, why I came here to ask questions. I'll start off slow and see how it goes.

please tell me you mean 0.8 ohms not .08 ohms. i run both aw 18650 2000 mah and panasonics 18650pds in my mods. running about .8-.9ohms with no issues and they last me hours. and i have a nitecore i4 charger as well. have no issues with any of my

LOL, sorry... We tend to get a bit concerned when numbers like .06 and .08 start showing up. No IMR or hybrid can handle that, it would be well above any known safe amp limit. So it would likely cause your batteries to vent, let alone popping coils and frying your juice. I assume you mean 0.6 and 0.8 and just type fast without double checking.

It is safe to use 18650's AMR's without a kick chip correct? I know they are unprotected but I thought I heard that have some sort of protection built in to prevent damage. Just hear from some sites don't use unprotected batteries without a chip in. But I also see a million people taking kick rings off and using the same batteries im using. Just ordered 12 sony US18650VTC4 too lol, I figure my mech mod, addiction will grow and I want the best batteries out there. Here those are close if not the best available.

Those are currently the best available this week lol. But I dont ever use a kick or fuse, the fuses would prob pop on the builds I run and the kick cant go up high enough to get where Im running without it. Unprotected are fine as long as you stay safe (batteries/ohm/wire). Keep those in the safe range and youll be fine

Start with the fact that there is no such thing as a safe lithium battery. So anything that makes it safer is good.
