Anyone That knows please chime in. I'm making my own atty mod using a ss wick on a ce2 xl. I need to replace the 2 lead wires. I want to be sure I use the correct wire. It seems to be about 30 gauge and has a hard type insulator that seems would resist the fluid and heat. I'm pretty sure this is PTFE wire (Teflon coated) that can withstand 400f and resists any fluids that come in contact with it. It's rated for about 250v which is fine. More than enough. Not sure about amps.

Can anyone confirm the wiring. Is it PTFE. Is it 30 gauge. I compared it to another 30 gauge AWG and it seemed to match up fine. It fit through the ceramic cup holes.

Tag BR5495 on this he's the CE2 modder.

Thanks, the scratches are all on me, but the big one is some sort of painted metal I suspect aluminum and from a mechanical pencil. The little one is chromed brass, not unlike an antenna, from a cheap fountain pen and the oval window just happened to be there already. They fit really well, give lateral support and don't look nearly as scratched to the naked eye. Combined I get 2 flavors, 3ml, and 1650mah, ready for a day of travelling.

JensB said something about flying with his genesis that they started to ooze and he had to take out the fill plugs. If I put a carto condom over the holes and it is sealed, should I be OK?

Probably not... They would ooze on a plane due to the reduced atmospheric pressure (I believe they only pressurize passenger cabins to the equivalent of being at 5000 feet). So pressure drops outside of the tank which causes the pressure inside the tank to force the liquid in the wick to ooze out/up the wick a bit. Remove the fill plug and it would equalize air to air. A carto condom isn't going to seal against that.

Great, I don't even have fill plugs (no room), I just fill these through the wick with a 20G needle. Air gets through there too, but not so much if it is saturated with juice. And taking a needle isn't and option either. I guess I can keep them upright, expect a mess and have a bottle to drip on the wick. And take along some standard cartos too. Sigh.

Hmmm. First thought was to just pack a bit of napkin to soak up the over flow but the wick would keep working and saturate the napkin no matter what.

1) Drain the tank ahead of time by sucking it out with your needle. Bit of napkin tucked in the vapor chamber would take care of whatever is left in the wick. Carry juice in juice bottles and refill after you get there.

2) make a plug for the wick hole. Replace wick with plug before getting on plane (don't know if it would leak elsewhere after plugging the easy one...).

3) Just remove wick and keep tank upright while on the plane.
